Robert Bergstrom Obituary

Bergstrom, Robert G.

Robert G. Bergstrom, Neenah, passed away on Monday, July 29, 2013. He bravely fought pancreatic cancer for four years.

Robert was born in Marinette, WI, on November 6, 1944, the son of the late George and Evelyn Bergstrom. He grew up in Menominee, MI, and was happy to be a Yooper. He worked at WAGN radio in Menominee and had joined the Naval Reserve serving his navy time in Norfolk, VA. Bob married Ardyth Tulip on June 29, 1968.

After graduating Magna Cum Laude from UWGB in Green Bay, he worked at WISN radio in Milwaukee. The family moved to Neenah where Bob began working for the Fox Valley Water Quality Planning Agency, then Marathon Engineers and Architects, Raytheon and Winsert.

Bob was a sportsman and enjoyed fishing, duck and deer hunting, sporting clays and boating on Lake Winnebago. He and Ardyth also enjoyed traveling through the United States and Europe, but Grandpa Bob's greatest joys were his grandsons.

Bob is survived by his wife, Ardyth; sons: Jason (Leah) and Steven (Shannon). He is also survived by three grandsons: Dane, Cole, and Tyce, and another grandchild to be born February 2014. He leaves behind two sisters: Barbara (John) Hartz; and Betty (Tom) Ennis; and a brother-in-law, Dr. Richard (Ann) Tulip.

The visitation for Bob will be from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at Neenah's Westgor Funeral Home, with a brief service to follow.

Ardyth and family. I am thinking of you this day. I hope you will take comfort in the following, which has helped me as well: "Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, Love leaves a memory no one can steal."

Dear Bergstrom's:

I was sorry to hear about Bob's passing, and his four-year bout with pancreatic cancer. Know that my thoughts are with you as you celebrate all the great contributions Bob made to his family and society. Although I was a few years older, I grew up with Bob asI lived right across the street. It was quite common that we would play all day, and a few hours after supper with our neighborhood gang of kids--including Bob and Betty ( Barbara was a little older than us). We shared a lot of good times together that I will always remember. Please pass my condolences on to all the family members, and know that Bob's contributions to all will live on for a long time to come. With deep sympathy, Tom Gosling

Ardyth, Jason and Steven,
God bless you all in the loss of Robert. I remember his visit early one morning while we had a cup of coffee before every one got up. He enjoyed a cup of Texas coffee and visit about the North Land and hunting. So thankful you made the trip and we got to meet you. I'll miss his emails. He was so much like Stan and guess it was the Bergstrom's way so thought full and easy to talk too. Love, Joyce & Stan Bergstrom.

Deepest sympathies on the loss of your husband, father, grandfather, and best friend. John Nason (Class of 1962) passed this information on to other classmates. My memories of Bob include sitting at a double-desk with him in Mr. Chambers' Biology class at Menominee High School -- we shared a microscope! And I remember visiting with him at the radio station when he worked for WAGN Radio in Menominee when we actually could request music. Fond memories, all. Makes me really sad to learn of classmates that have passed on. We like to think we'll last forever. I hope you find comfort with friends, family and memories that surround you during this time of loss.

Please accept our prayers. I will always remember the days we spent in the woods, on the ice, or in the restaurant afterwards. He enjoyed living his way. May the Lord's peace be with you in the coming days. God bless you all.
