Schultz, Shirley J.

Shirley Jean (Colavecchi) Schultz passed away unexpectedly on June 25, 2014, at Appleton Medical Center. She was born April 25, 1938 in Iron Mountain, MI to the late Stella Bouchard Eggers and the late Clement "Shine" Colavecchi. She lived and enjoyed her youth growing up in Niagara, WI. She moved to Appleton in 1951 and graduated from Appleton High School WEST in 1956.

She was a Member of St Joseph Church in Appleton. She had a strong Catholic faith. She had her "pew" friends at the 8:00 mass. 10 years a member of the Altrusa Club, International. She was active in ladies and couples bowling leagues for many years. She worked part-time as a sales associate for 33 years at Pranges/Younkers and made many friends and acquaintances. She was an avid Packer fan and a season ticket holder for many years. She enjoyed many trips to Las Vegas, trips to Door County with her girlfriends and she traveled to California to visit with her nieces. She had an open house Flag Day party every June for many years. She enjoyed breakfast once a month with the class of '56, lunch once a month with a great group of girlfriends, Breakfast with work friends and Friday night out with her best friends at Dick and Joans. She was a caring, loving mom, grandma and friend. She had a great sense of humor, helpful, thoughtful, fun loving, and loved life.

She married Eddie Schultz, and they were married 36 years when he passed away unexpectedly in December of 1993. Blessed with 3 great kids and 6 grandchildren; Jolene (Schultz) and Corey Wiegel of Combined Locks, Craig and Janet (Plamann) Schultz of Appleton and Jeff and Sue (Beyer) Schultz of Greenville. Grandchildren: Kennedy and Griffin Wiegel, Alexis and Alicia Schultz, Drew and Ross Schultz, Jessica Plamann, Chris Plamann and a great granddaughter Olivia Plamann. Friend and sister-in-law Dar (Schultz) Steger, brothers-in-law: Ralph (Nicole) Schultz, Roger (Genevieve) Schultz, and Jerry (Barbara) Schultz, and special cousin Joey (Shirl) Bouchard. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, special friends and other cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Adele Cournoyer; brothers-in-law Louie Cournoyer and Joe Steger; stepfather Edwin (Bud) Eggers and stepmother Doris Colavecchi.

A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Monday, June 30, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 414 W. Lawrence St., Appleton, with Father James Leary OFM Cap officiating. Friends may visit from 4 to 7 pm on Sunday at the Brettschneider-Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel, and directly at the church on Monday from 9 am until the time of service. Parish Prayer service will take place at 7 pm Sunday at the funeral chapel. Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

I was your anchor, hope I taught you well! Be happy, no tears. Rally round and celebrate my life!

I am so sorry to hear of Shirleys passing. I am one of the "pew" buddies who sat right behind her at the 8am mass. She was a delightful & fun lady, always laughing & happy! She will be sadly missed by us all! I just found out, as I have been out of town. My deepest sympathy to all of her family.

Jolene, I hold you and your family in my thoughts and in my prayers. You mom's Christian faith is evident in her obituary; I hope you feel the prayers of others. More importantly, I hope you feel the comfort of our Lord. I smile at the wonderful words used at the end of your mom's obituary: “I have loved well, been well loved - CELEBRATE my life.”
