Steven Cashman Obituary

Cashman, Steven

Steven R. Cashman, Town of Morrison, (Greenleaf), age 51, passed away peacefully at home, with his wife Ellen at his side, early Sunday morning, July 15, 2012 following a brave fight with cancer. Steve was born in Waterbury, Connecticut on April 4, 1961, son of Richard W. Cashman and Joan M. (Mitchell) Cashman. The family moved from New York State to Menasha, Wisconsin in 1972, where Steve attended Kimberly High School. Following graduation he attended the Auto Body School at Fox Valley Technical College. Steve and his wife Ellen (Beining) Cashman were married on March 19, 1988. They made their home on the Town of Morrison farmstead, where Steve opened his business, Cashman Auto Body, and where they raised their children, Adam, born in 1988, and Emily, born in 1990.

Steve believed in hard work, honesty, and living true to his nature. He loved fishing, hunting, gardening, motorcycling and time spent with family and friends. His creative talent can be seen in the unique outdoor furnishings he built out of wagon wheels and other antiques, the hand crafted fieldstone pillars along their driveway, the restoration of the original 1860's barn outside their door. Steve was the founder of the Calumet County, Wisconsin Chapter of ABATE, to promote motorcyclists rights and safety.

Steve is survived by his wife, Ellen (Beining) Cashman, son Adam, (special friend Abby Jensen), Ledgeview, granddaughter to be born in August, daughter Emily (special friend Joey O'Hearn), Morrison, parents Richard and Joan (Mitchell) Cashman, Naples, FL & Neenah; siblings, Sandra Cashman of Slinger, Sharon Verstegen (Michael), Appleton; Debra Safranski (Andrew), Neenah; and Robert Cashman (Linda), Neenah; father-in-law and mother-in-law Robert and Ruth Beining, Greenleaf; Sisters-in-law Debra Van Asten and Jan (Tom) Hockers, De Pere; brothers-in-law Tim Beining, Buford GA, Gary Beining, Wrightstown, Brian (Allie) Beining, Greenleaf; along with an extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and loyal friends too numerous to count. Steve was preceded in death by nephews Brian Ingalls, and Joseph Safranski.

Funeral Services for Steve will be at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at BOETTCHER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 2401 Fieldcrest Dr., Kaukauna with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating. Friends will be received on Wednesday at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. until the time of services.

Steve's family would like to thank the countless friends and family

members for all of their love, time, and support throughout Steve's illness.

This is like loosing one of my own family. Jean and I have known the Cashmans for longer than anyone else. We knew them before they were even married, let alone have kids. We lived together and loved together and worked together, fished together, had kids together, held Sandy on our laps while we played cards together so she wouldn't cry, and had hardships together but we never ,ever thought that we would have to go through this terrible tough time together and us being so far apart that we can't even hold them close so we can cry with them. We have to sit here and cry all by by ourselves. We love you all and prey for you Steve. Rest in peace.

Dear Ellen and Kids,
I remember your hubby/father from when you kids were in my Preschool and Kindergarten classes at Wayside-Zion. Always enjoyed his friendliness and humor. Sometimes when a person dies way too young or even at any age, it doesn't seem fair. God will lead you through the pain and give you peace. Go to God whenever and He is there for you always. Most Sincerely, Mrs. Cindy Muther

Sandy, Sherri, Debbie, Bobby, Aunt Joan, Uncle Dick and Ellen,

We were so sorry to hear of Steve's passing. Because we went through this with Brenda, I can only say that we took some small comfort in knowing that she was no longer in any pain. Steve will be dearly missed, and I hope you can try to focus on all of the good times you shared with him, not those of his recent pain. Please know that we are thinking of all of you at this very difficult time.
