Susan Femal Obituary

Femal, Susan

Susan A Lee Femal, age 63, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family after a long and courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia, on Sunday, November 15, 2015 at The Bridges in Appleton. Sue was born on March 21, 1952 in Appleton, daughter of Alice Stammer (Bussian) and the late Richard Stammer. She graduated from Appleton West High School and went on to marry her High School sweetheart, Robert Harold Femal on June 3, 1973. Sue spent her early years working in the medical field as a nurse's aide. Sue then spent many years at home raising her three children before working full time at the family business, Femal's Auto Body. Sue enjoyed spending summers with her family, friends and neighbors at her cottage on Shawano Lake taking pontoon rides and watching the sunset. She loved traveling to the beaches in Florida and to the casinos in Las Vegas. Sue cherished the many close friendships she had over the years, but no friendship meant more to her than the tightness she shared with her sissy, Bonnie.

Sue was lucky enough to marry the love of her life, Bob. The relationship between them was something special to watch. They had a love that was undeniable and rare. Together Sue and Bob had three children: Tonya Femal, Woodbury, MN; Jennifer (Alan) Chan, Appleton, and Scott (Sara) Femal, Appleton. Sue's pride and joy was watching her eight grandchildren play and sing her songs, Finnegan and Olivia Miller. Maxwell, Sophia, and Beckett Chan, Nevaeh, Kaiyan, and Aria Femal. Sue is further survived by her mother, Alice Stammer, as well as her sisters, Bonnie (Richard) Hauk of Appleton, and Vicki Mitchell of Medina. Sue is also survived by her brother Randy (Julie) Stammer of Freedom, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Funeral service for Sue will be 12:00 PM at Faith Lutheran Church, 601 E Glendale Avenue, Appleton, with Rev. Daniel Thews officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday beginning at 9:00 AM until the the time of the service. Entombment will be at Riverside Cemetery. A Memorial Fund has been established in Susan's name.

Susan's family would like to express their extreme gratitude for the love and care given by Senior Helpers, in particular her caregivers Julie and Karen. As well as the staff of The Bridges, especially to Rachel Watkins-Peterson, Memory Care Director, as well as Rev. John McFadden.

Bob:

I am so sorry to hear about Sue's passing. It's been decades since we have seen each other, but I fondly remember the great times the gang had together in high school. Sue was always a special young lady and someone we all loved to kid around with. As someone who also has a wife with a life-ending disease, I know better than most what you and your family have gone through in recent years in regard to Sue's care and well being. Caregiving is a tough job, but when it involves a loved one, we all step up to the plate as needed. Knowing you, I am sure Sue received the best care possible and her quality of life was enhanced as much as possible, considering the realities of the disease. I also know that Sue would have been extremely grateful for all her family did for her. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during these difficult days.

May God be with you always,

Mark

My sympathies to the families - Stammers and Femals both. I grew up next to Susan and it is hard to know someone so young to pass too early from us.
