Prinsen, Thomas

Thomas "Tom" E. Prinsen, age 62, of Crandon, formerly of New London, passed away after fighting a courageous battle with kidney cancer on Tuesday, September 25, 2012. He was born in Racine, WI on July 12, 1950 the son of Tony and Dorothy (Steibel) Prinsen.

Tom grew up in New London, WI and graduated from New London High School in 1968. In 2003, he married Carole Stamper. Tom retired from the New London Highway Department in 2005, after 33 years of service.

Everyone will remember Tom as being a happy go lucky guy, who always had a smile on his face; even when he was sick. He helped many people with home projects. Tom loved to fish and hunt; now the "Bum Shack" is decorated with all of his hunting trophies. Good times and precious memories were made there. Tom also enjoyed playing cards, golfing and bowling.

He is survived by his wife, Carole, son, Corey (Yvonne) Prinsen, New London, daughter, Michelle (Eric) May, New London, 8 grandchildren; McKenzie (Ryan) Cameron, Alex, Grant, Bailey, Chase, Connor and Caden and 2 great-grandchildren, Skyler and Abby, all of New London.

Also surviving Tom are step-children, Brent (Beth) Stamper, Shan Stamper, Gina (Mike) Votis, Keith (Kim) Stamper and Travis (Jodi) Stamper, all of Crandon, 17 step-grandchildren and 7 step-great-grandchildren.

He is further survived by his mother, Dorothy Prinsen, brother, Tony (Connie) Prinsen, sisters, Sandy (Luke) Luedtke, Sherry Prinsen, Patty (Bob) Weber, Joy Prinsen (Norman Walbruck) and Penny (Brian) Siewert, all of New London and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Tom was preceded in death by his father, Tony, sister, Cindy and niece, Tara Walbruck.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, October 1 from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. at Praise Chapel Community Church, Crandon. Memorial Service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Bill Farr officiating. Weber-Hill Funeral Home, Crandon is assisting the family. Online condolences at www.weberhillfuneralhome.com.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Tom's sister, Sandy Luedtke, Kim Stamper and nurse, Jodi Stamper for their exceptional care and loving support of Tom during his last days at home.

We were sorry to hear of Tom's passing. He fought a couragous battle! Tom was a great guy and we enjoyed some good laughs around the campfire. You all have our deepest sympathy.
