Verna I. E. Wolf

Verna Ida Emma Wolf, age 96 of Shawano, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2013 in Appleton. Born on June 9, 1917 in Watertown, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Ella (Kube) Buchert. She was baptized on July 1, 1917 and confirmed on March 29, 1931 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Watertown. She graduated from Elm Grove School and attended Watertown High School. On May 20, 1939 she was united in marriage to Leonard J. Wolf in Watertown. After marriage, the couple moved to the Town of Belle Plaine where they farmed the Emil Wolf Family Farm for 35 years. Upon retirement, the couple moved to Shawano. Verna was a member of St. Martin's Lutheran Church in the Town of Belle Plaine, where she taught Sunday school and was active with the Ladies Aid and L.W.M.L. Verna loved flowers, gardening, fishing, and camping. She enjoyed visiting with her grandchildren and spoiling everyone with her cooking.

Verna is survived by: her daughter, Diana Schauder of DePere; 4 grandchildren, Jonathan Schauder of Portugal, Andrew (fiancé, Sarah Knaperek) Schauder of Scottsdale, AZ, Anne (Keith) Brimlow of Flagstaff, AZ, Daniel Schauder of Hawkins; sister, Gladys (Carl) Pillsbury of Watertown and several nieces and nephews.

Verna was preceded in death by: her husband, Leonard on November 8, 2011; her parents; sister, Alpha May; and 2 brothers, Hilbert Buchert and Elmer Buchert.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Monday, June 24, 2013 at St. Martin's Lutheran Church, Town of Belle Plaine with the Rev. Kurt Kluge officiating. Burial will take place at the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano on Sunday from 4:00-8:00pm and at the church on Monday from 9:30am until the time of service.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Surgical Services staff at the Appleton Medical Center for their kindness and compassion during Verna's last days.
