I loved being in her journalism classes and working with her on the yearbook staff. She was truly a great lady! It isn't mentioned here that she also played on the Idaho Falls women's baseball team during those war years when the men were gone. Love this grand lady!!!

My dear Aunt Afton was a precious part of our family. Among my aunts and uncles she remained my "favorite". Her laughter, jokes, wise words, and intuitive mind lead me many times through the years. I loved going to reunions and family gatherings where a long walk with my Aunt Afton would be the highlight of the day, and sitting in her Swan Valley house by the light of the fire, talking of everything important was so satisfying. Her picture here was on a perfect summer day where we spent the afternoon riding together. Later on as an adult, I enjoyed weekends at the ranch house, hiking on the hills, or walking down to the river, listening to the stories of old. She was a glue of companionship for the family, and will continue to be so in our memories. She was part of me, and helped to shape me into who I am today. She told me to not fear death, but to know that the great beyond was something to look forward to. So now I look forward to seeing you again, dear Aftie, you are loved so deeply. We grieve over losing you too soon, for we had so much more to talk about. This family was made better because of you, and we won't forget your wise lessons. I love you Aunt Afton, your niece, Sally.

Miss Bitton will always be the epitome of a journalist and a teacher. I remember her laughter - not at us, but with us - as we struggled to write our news articles and/or our essays. I just recently found her address and was planning on writing a letter to her. I wanted her know how much she influenced my teaching over my 35 year career.
Thank you, Miss Bitton.
