Ben Charles Gomm, age 31, passed away unexpectedly January 18, 2018, at his home in Blackfoot Idaho.
Ben was born July 7, 1986, to Ben Gomm Sr. of Shelley, Idaho, and Donella Stahn of Idaho Falls, Idaho.
He is brother to Mariah Jensen Coleman, Rose Christman, Oliane Scott, Nathan Stahn, Emily Stahn, Donella McGiff, Christian Stahn, Daniel Stahn and Ramon Valentine.
Ben grew up in East Idaho and attended Blackfoot and Hillcrest High School. After he earned his Eagle Scout award, he graduated early and joined the Army National Guard to serve his country.
Ben genuinely loved and cared for anyone he came in contact with. He thought of friends as family, and he made sure you knew it. He loved with all of his heart, and was compassionate beyond words. He was smart, artistic, cheerful and funny. He loved laughter, comedy, storytelling and relentless teasing.
Ben married Shannon Corradi October 31, 2012, and they had two beautiful children, a daughter Charlie Gomm and son Raye Gomm.
Ben served as a Specialist with his brothers and friends in the Army Nation Guard with the 116th infantry, Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was awarded several letters of Commendation and Achievement.
Ben's true talents showed best when working with his hands. He worked as a mechanic, pattern maker, machinist, gun smith, carpenter and much more. He lived for music, fishing, hunting, camping and spending time with his family and friends. Being a father brought him an enormous amount of joy. He loved his children and his many nieces and nephews. Ben was a teacher and a friend. He could be found on his hands and knees playing trucks, Barbies or baiting a fishing hook. Ben was a Hero kind of brother who adored his sisters. Quick to come to the rescue, change a tire or lend a helping hand.
Ben is survived by Shannon Gomm, his daughter Charlie Gomm, his son Raye Gomm and his brothers, sisters and parents. He was preceded in death by his sister Leah Gomm, his grandparents Ben and Dorene Gomm, grandfather Ray Solheim and grandmother Elaine Miller.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, January 27, at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave. Blackfoot Idaho. Viewing will be Friday, January 26, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Graveside services to follow in Idaho Falls at the Ammon Cemetery. It is never easy to lose someone you love so much. I didn't know Ben long and only worked with a short while but he was the kind of person who was so willing to help out a coworker and made you feel needed and wanted. Ben Jr. will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with all your family.

We send our love and condolences to the Gomm & Stahn families. Our wonderful memories are full of the times when our children were young, and we thought of you as not only our neighbors and Ward family, but as true friends who made our lives so fulfilling. One of our fondest memories of little Ben was when he asked Brett to camp out with him one night in the field in back of the subdivision. That was the sweetest request! What a darling little red headed boy he was. We pray that comfort will be found in your happiest memories of your loved son, brother, father, and friend. May our Heavenly Father grant peace to you in your times of sorrow. LOVE to each of you, The Dale & Linda Shearer family

We really enjoyed having Ben working with us at our machine shop and gun shop. We got to do a little playing too. They were happy times made brighter by his smile. And hugs. Ben gave great hugs. He will be missed by many.
