Brady Hammon

1970 - 2026

Brady was born on November 8, 1970, to Arlean "Dootzie" DeFilippis and Jimmie William Hammon. He was raised in Rigby, Idaho, where he earned his high school diploma before moving to Boise, Idaho, to continue his education. He proudly earned his master's degree as a licensed Clinical Social Worker from Boise State University, dedicating himself to helping others.

Brady had a lifelong love of sports and competition. He wrestled and played football and baseball. After his accident, his determination and spirit remained strong. He went on to play wheelchair basketball and earned his brown belt in Karate - accomplishments that reflected his resilience, courage, and unwavering perseverance.

While athletics were important to him, Brady's true passion was music. He loved playing guitar and writing his own songs. Music was his heart. As a member of the Idaho Songwriters Association, he found both creative expression and deep friendship, performing alongside talented musicians who became lifelong friends. Brady met his one true love, Dena Simonsen, and they were married in 1991. Though they later divorced, she remained an important part of his life story.

He was preceded in death by his former wife, his father, and his grandparents.

He is survived by his loving mother, Arlean "Dootzie" Peterson; his sisters, Teresa Lane, Sandi (Mark) David, Melodi (Darren) Shewmaker, Tammy (Russ) Walker, Valerie (David) Lees, and his brothers, Jim (Kerry) Hammon, and Todd (Cindy) Peterson. He also leaves behind extended family members, dear friends, and fellow musicians who will miss him deeply.

There will be a celebration of life held on April 18, 2026, at the Idaho Falls Eagles; 635 Hemmert Ave Idaho Falls, Idaho 83401 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Brady's life was a testament to strength, creativity, and heart. He will be remembered for his resilience, his music, and the love he shared so freely. His memory will live on in the songs he wrote and in the hearts of all that knew him.
