Dave J. Holtom, 65, of Idaho Falls, passed away Jan. 16, 2009, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was under the care of Hands of Hope Hospice.
He was born May 9, 1943, in Idaho Falls to Jesse Everett Holtom and Bessie Storer Holtom. He grew up and attended school in Iona. He graduated from Bonneville High School in 1961 and from Brigham Young University in 1967. He served an LDS mission in Texas.
On Sept. 10, 1965, he married Anne Call in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Together they raised six children. They lived in a number of locations, including Washington, California and Florida before returning home to Idaho. Dave was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as a branch president, as a bishop and in many other capacities. He also served his community as a Rotary president. He enjoyed fast cars, motorcycles, softball, basketball and watching his children play sports. The highlight of his life was spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Anne Holtom of Idaho Falls; children, Brooks (Kimbrely) Holtom of Ashburn, Va., Jodanna (Chris) Bishop of Nevada City, Calif., Marshall (Beverly) Holtom of Shelley, Spencer (Emily)Holtom of Hemet, Calif., Blake (Cheryl) Holtom of Clermont, Fla., and Rachel (Brian) Eggleston of Idaho Falls; brothers, Gary (JoAnn) Holtom of Apache Junction, Ariz., and Steve (Jan) Holtom of Idaho Falls; and 19 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, at the Idaho Falls LDS Coltman Chapel on the Lewisville Highway, 12448 N. Fifth East, with Bishop Stuart Seely officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave., and from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church.
