Garth Glen McKinney, 90, passed away March 24, 2010, at his home at Lincoln Court Retirement Community.
He was born Dec. 9, 1919, in Doniphan, Missouri to Art McKinney and Cynthia McDowell McKinney. He graduated from Grandin Missouri High School and received his bachelor's degree at the University of Missouri in Rolla, Mo.
He joined the U.S. Navy and served during World War II.
He worked as an engineer/district manager with the Missouri State Highway Department.
He married Verne Mabel Paul in October 1944 in Doniphan, Mo. Together they raised their son in Missouri. Verne passed away in August 2003.
Garth was a Rotarian for 40 years. He moved to Idaho Falls to be closer to his family 12 years ago. He attended Trinity United Methodist Church faithfully every Sunday and lived at Lincoln Court because he enjoyed their activities.
He loved to travel with the Holiday Rambler Caravans.
Garth is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, J.D. (Vicki) McKinney of Idaho Falls; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Verne, of 60 years.
Burial will be in Macedonia Cemetery in Grandin, Mo., at a later date.
