Gary Dye Obituary

Gary Kent Dye, formerly of the Firth area, passed away peacefully of natural causes in his home in Idaho Falls on May 6, 2017, at the age of 78.

Gary was born March 12, 1939, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Lynn Austin Dye and Vita Brower Dye. In April of 1947, he was baptized and confirmed a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saints. He graduated from Firth High School in 1957 and joined the Army the same year.

After basic training, he served in Orleans, France. While there, he was active in the LDS Church and served as a counselor in the branch presidency. After he was honorably discharged in 1959, Gary married Beverly Jane Hebdon, his high school sweetheart, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple for time and all eternity.

The couple spent the first part of their marriage living in the Firth area and later moved to Idaho Falls. Shortly afterward, they welcomed their daughter, Ordean, in July of 1961. The small family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, in July of 1968. In 1982, shortly after the death of Gary's father, they moved back to Idaho with their daughter, son-in-law and young grandchildren. Over the years, Gary worked hard at a variety of different jobs in order to support his family. He spent many years working in the tire industry, both in Idaho and Nevada.

When a tragic accident killed their grandson and put their daughter in the hospital for an extended period of time in 1985, Gary and his wife took in and raised their young granddaughters, Tammy and Terri Zora.

Gary's family remembers him as a strong, hardworking man who loved his family. He was always supportive of members of his family. In recent years, for example, he took the greatest pleasure in attending his great-grandchildren's sporting events and activities.

Gary is survived by his wife, Beverly Jane Hebdon Dye; daughter, Ordean Zora; granddaughters, Tammy (Sean) Dixon and Terri Zora; two great-grandsons; two great-granddaughters; and three sisters, Marlene (Jack) Jibson, LeAnn Coleman and Lynette Massey. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lynn and Vita Dye; a grandson, Timothy "T.J." Zora, Jr.; and two sisters, Verlyn (Frank) Outcelt and Darla (Rex) Madsen.

The family would like to thank Dr. Brad Erikson, his office staff and the staff of Teton Home Health and Hospice for their dedicated efforts on Gary's behalf.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 13, at Mountain View LDS Chapel, 1450 Mountain View Lane in Idaho Falls. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 W. Oak St., in Shelley, and Saturday morning from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in Firth Cemetery with military rites by David B. Bleak Post 93 assisted by Idaho Honor Guard. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.nalderfuneralhome.com.

You were sure it was a marble, your favorite marble. I kept telling you it was a jaw breaker. I ate it! No doubt about it, it definately was a jaw breaker.
