Ivan Lavern Tanner, 90, of Rigby, died Thursday, September 18, 2008, at The Gables of Ammon Assisted Living Center.
He was born September 20, 1917, in Garfield, to Clarence Lavern Tanner and Laura Leona Warner Tanner. He attended Rigby schools.
On January 22, 1940, he married Vida Elizabeth Harris in Ririe. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. She preceded him in death, May 16, 2002. He later married Francella Lee in Rexburg. He farmed in the Rigby area all of his life. He also owned and operated a cattle ranch in Dell, Montana. Ivan was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed flying his plane, golfing, fishing and spending winters in Mesa Arizona.
He is survived by his wife, Francella "Francie" Tanner of Idaho Falls; sons, Nyle (Cheryl) Tanner of Groveland, Dennis (Jody) Tanner of Flagstaff, Ariz., and Steve (Sherry) Tanner of Rigby; stepchildren, Billy (Barbara) Lee of McAllister, Texas, Terry (Karla) Lee of Barrigo Springs, Calif., and Judy (Dave) Siebert of Wamego, Kan.; siblings, Margie (Grant) Shippen of Idaho Falls and Donald (Gladys) Tanner of Rigby; 14 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Beth; and a granddaughter, Trudi Beth Tanner.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 22, 2008, at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby, with Wade Snedaker conducting. The family will visit with friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sunday and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Monday, both at the funeral home. Burial will be in Annis Little Butte Cemetery.
