Jan Clark Obituary

Janet Carole Clark, 91, of Idaho Falls, passed away April 1, 2025, at her home.

Jan was born March 13, 1934, in Brainerd, Minnesota, to Fritz Gartner and Freida Menz Gartner. She grew up and attended schools in Brainerd and graduated from Washington High School.

On December 29, 1956, she married John "Jack" Henry Clark in St. Paul, Minnesota. Jack and Jan fell in love in high school and Jan followed Jack to Minneapolis, Minnesota, while he attended the University of Minnesota to study Chemical Engineering.

Jan and Jack went on a great adventure and decided to move to Idaho Falls after Jack was offered a job at the Nuclear Reactor Testing Station. They made their home in Idaho Falls and raised three sons. Janet worked as a librarian for the Idaho Falls Public Library for 20 years and retired in the mid-1990s. In retirement, Jack and Jan enjoyed traveling and camping at their lot in Island Park and enjoying their grandchildren's activities.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed planning and cooking meals for the family, even in her 90s. You would never leave Mom's home hungry!

Jan is survived by her son, Greg (Jill) Clark of Bellevue, ID; son, Brian (Connie) Clark of Nampa, ID; son, Steve Clark of Idaho Falls, ID; 6 grandchildren, Kendra, Brandon, Christopher, Kyle, Ryan, and Courtney; and 1 great-granddaughter, Illyana.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Clark, and her mother, Freida Gartner of Brainerd, MN.

Graveside services will be held at 12 p.m. Monday, May 12, 2025, at Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior to services at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Avenue.

Brian, Greg, Steve;
I offer my heartfelt condolences. I remember the happy times with your mom and dad; e. g. a summer dinner on our patio after maintenance on our shared backyard fence, helping with irrigation "tinkering" after Jack passed, etc.
Sorry I can't make the May 12 service, I'll be out of town.
My best,
Glen
