Larry Floyd Samuelson, 71, of Rigby, died May 17, 2009, at Madison Memorial Hospital.
He was born April 7, 1938, in Pocatello to Avla Floyd Samuelson and Elva Rebecca Porter Samuelson. He was raised and attended schools in Pocatello, Idaho; and St. George; and Hurricane, Utah.
On Jan. 12, 1961, he married Myla Gay Casper in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Together they lived in Menan, Rexburg, Pocatello and Rigby.
He worked for Golden Valley Packers as a hide puller, as a laborer in various potato warehouses, he manufactured wood-burning stoves and hearths, he helped remove railroad spur between Menan and Egin, and helped to remodel the YMCA in Pocatello. Larry was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed fishing and watching John Wayne movies.
He is survived by his wife, Myla Samuelson of Rigby; daughters, Sarah (Fred) Hayes of Ontario, N.Y., and Larrynda Samuelson of Rigby; sons, Thomas Samuelson of Rigby and Steven Samuelson of Pendleton, Ore.; sisters, Ruth (John) Hudach of Hubbard, Ohio, Jean Brooks of Layton, Utah, Marian (Ted) Hughs of Hawthorne, Nev., and Raleen Ames of Pocatello; brothers, Duane (Darlene) Samuelson of McCammon and LeeRoy (Sharon) Samuelson of Huntsville, Ala.; one grandson; and three granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Kenneth.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 22, 2009, at the Rigby East Stake Center, 4021 E. 300 North. The family will visit with friends from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Friday prior to the services at the stake center. Burial will be in Annis-Little Butte Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.eckersellfuneralhome.com.
