Byron Smith Obituary

Byron Amber SmithFuneral Services will be held Sunday, July 19, 2009, at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Picayune for Byron Amber Smith, 81 of Picayune, who passed away on Friday July 17, 2009 at his home in Picayune. Burial will be in New Palestine Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home. Dr. Keith Warden will officiate at the service, assisted by the Rev. Stan Davis. He was a native of Pearl River County, and a member and Deacon of First Baptist Church of Picayune. He was a member of Rube Watts Sunday School Class for over 55 years. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Amber Myrtle Smith and Nannie Cork Smith; and one sister, Geraldine Simmons. Survivors include: his wife of 57 years, Evelyn Taylor Smith of Picayune; two daughters: Lynn (Ernest) S. Lovell, of Picayune, and Arme (James) S. Knight of Ridgeland, Miss.; six grandchildren: Sarah (Tripp) E. Boone, Michael Byron (Tara) Mitchell, Jeffry Osmond Mitchell, Elizabeth (Brian) K. Byars, David James Knight, Vema Martha Lovell; two great-grandchildren: Anne Larson Boone and Taylor Elizabeth Byars; one sister: Wilma Wise; three brothers: Crayton Smith, Oren Smith, and Grady Smith; and many nephews and nieces. Visitation will be Sunday, July 19, 2009 from 2-3 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Picayune. Obituary, register book, and driving directions can be found on the internet page, www.mcdonaldfh.com. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Picayune Building Fund, P.O. Box 477, Picayune, MS.

Dear Evelyn and family,
I am so sorry I did not learn of Byron's death in time to attend the services. I wish you all peace and comfort as you celebrate Byron's life and mourn his passing. Knowing where he now resides will bring you great comfort in the days to come.
