In her apartment, my mother liked watching Shirley Temple movies, black and white. She also watched various news programs aware that issues never are. She read editorials from the Deseret News as well the hometown papers. She listened to middle-of-the-road talk radio. Becoming more aware politically, my mother kept growing her last years.
Ruth began to develop ideas and viewpoints more thoughtfully than in earlier times. She never shouted her views like the noisy men. She was calm and rather moderate in her opinions, not unlike the former congresswoman who earlier made those black and whites.
Above all, Ruth's main concern was for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She cared for their future. My mother and father wanted them to live in a good century and wonderful country.

I hold good and fun memories of our family visits in Idaho Falls. You are a great family. I’m so glad that your parents are reunited once again. I hold a lot of love and respect for Uncle Sam and Aunt Ruth and all of your family. I send this little note with lots of love and support.

My mother was a courageous person who loved life and the people she met wherever life took her. She loved her Idaho but also enjoyed living in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband and children for over 60 years. She was friendly and caring to her neighbors, co-workers, people in her congregation and people in her community. She enjoyed the diversity of the area and getting to know people of all backgrounds. And then, In her later years she and her husband chose their homeland of Idaho to be their final resting place. I admire her for so many things. Loving life and the people in this world is just one of them.
