Sara Ashman Obituary

Sara Suppes Ashman was born November 23, 1912 in Johnstown Pa. to George O. Suppes and Marion Dibert Suppes. She attended Cochran Jr. High School and then the Harcum School for Girls graduating as valedictorian from both. In 1934 she graduated Cum Laude from Bryn Mawr College.

On June 16th 1936 she was married to Wilbur McClintock Ashman who became the administrator of Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital. Together they raised three children.

Sara lived an extraordinarily long life; she filled it with love of tennis, travel, gardening, bridge, reading, and much more. But most of all she was devoted to family.

She lived in Johnstown Pa., Naples Fl., and finally Idaho Falls Id. where she died June 7th 2024 at 111 years of age. She leaves behind her son George Suppes Ashman, a daughter Sara Ashman Cifrese, a son Thomas Wilbur Ashman, nine grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren. She will forever be missed.
