Todd Jorgensen Obituary

Michael "Todd" Jorgensen, 45, of Idaho Falls, passed away Dec. 12, 2016, at his home from complications of pulmonary hypertension.

Todd was born Oct. 23, 1971, in Idaho Falls to Michael Jorgensen and Sherie June Reed Jorgensen. He grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls and Rigby and graduated from Bonneville High School. He played basketball, football and ran track. He was an outstanding athlete and loved playing with all of his teammates. He received several all-conference and all-state selection awards. Even after a serious knee injury his senior year in football, he had the courage to rehab and get ready to run track in the spring and qualified for the state track meet.

His greatest love was basketball, but his knee injury took that dream away, but he still received a full-ride scholarship to play football at Brigham Young University. While attending BYU, he met a girl while he was home for part of the summer. He married Juliann King in the Seattle Temple. They were later divorced. After playing college football, he returned home and finished his Bachelor of Art at Idaho State University. He worked at UPS and Applebees, coached ninth grade basketball at Bonneville and assisted with boy's basketball at Hillcrest. He had a great love for these boys he worked with during that time.

He then moved to Colorado Springs to be with his sister, Yvette, and her family. He transferred his job to Applebees there and met his wife, Michele Serra. They were later married, and Todd had and instant family with Michele's daughter, Bailee, whom he loved immediately. They were blessed with their first son, Brady Michael, in May of 2004, who was the love of Todd's life. They had another son, Mason Todd, in June of 2006. Tragically, his life was cut short from SIDS on Oct. 15, 2006. Michele and Todd had a difficult time with this loss, but they turned their attention to Brady and Bailee.

They returned to live in Idaho Falls in July of 2014 and were later divorced.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, and of course, being involved in sports. At the time of his death, he was an assistant coach to the Hillcrest High School Girls' junior varsity basketball team which gave him great fulfillment because of his great love for the game and the kids.

Todd is survived by his son, Brady Michael Jorgensen of Las Vegas; parents, Mike and Sherie Jorgensen of Idaho Falls; and sisters, Sherie Michell (Doug) Walker of Lewisville and Anita Yvette (Tyler) Sorensen of Idaho Falls.

He was preceded in death by his son, Mason Todd, and both sets of grandparents.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 19, at Woodruff LDS 3rd Ward, 2055 Coronado St., with Bishop Erik Larson officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, and from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Monday prior to services at the church. My sincere condolences are extended to Todds family. I just learned of his passing today. I truly have fond memories of Todd working with my son at the Texas Roadhouse in Colorado Springs. We became friends and I had the pleasure of meeting and working with his family with their real estate needs. I am so very sorry to hear about this. May we all dwell on all the fond memories we shared. RIP Todd!

Mike,

I'm so sorry to hear about Todd. I remember him well. You were my basketball coach in the late 70's and you brought him to many of our practices and he traveled with us around the state to our games. I had fun teasing him and having great conversations. Right after High School I moved away so I wasn't able to see him grow up and play sports. I hear he was a great athlete just like his Dad. Losing a child is one of the most difficult trials of this earth life even with a knowledged of the great plan of happiness. God bless you and your wife Mike.
Best Regards,
Troy Tawzer
