Wilford Earl "Willie" Hammon, 75, of Idaho Falls, passed away Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, at his home.
He was born Jan. 3, 1937, in Idaho Falls to Herman Wilford Hammon and Annie Holverson Hammon. He grew up and attended schools in the area.
Willie worked at Highland Park and was a ball shagger. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He later graduated from Delta College in Body and Fender.
In 1960, he married Elsie Baker. They were divorced in 1963. On Oct. 14, 1980, he married Anita Michelle Keller in Idaho Falls.
Willie enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and was an expert fly tier. He especially loved his family and spending time with them.
Survivors are his wife, Anita Hammon of Idaho Falls; son, Jason Hammon of Idaho Falls; daughters, Lori (Rich) Johnson of Thayne, Wyo., Shannon (Wes) Hillman of Idaho Falls and Emma (Kelly) Clay of Ririe; brother, Ronnie Hammon of Idaho Falls; sister, Dode Carpender of Washington; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Stella, Corky, Jimmy and Ed.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13, at Iona Cemetery, with military rites performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team and Idaho Honor Guard. A gathering and luncheon will be from noon to 4 p.m. at the Eagles Lodge.
