"If I have seen further than others, it is because I stood on the shoulders of giants."

Despite his size and friendly demeanor, Tony was simply put, a giant. He carried sponsored youth in the New York District on his shoulders wherever he went. It was clear to everyone around that Tony had one interest in mind – and that was the children and the sponsored youth that helped facilitate the Kiwanis Family Mission.

At every sponsored event throughout my time in Key Club, Tony was there. He would show up with his written down speech on how to help Kamp Kiwanis and on how much he enjoyed working with Key Club and Circle K. And the thing is, he meant every word of it. He truly loved each member of the organization and never failed to let you know how much you meant to him.

Thank you Tony! All of us here are forever in your debt. You have made a world of positive changes and inspired so many. You never stopped trying to change the world and all I can do now is promise to do the same and continue what you have done so well.

A Grateful Friend,

Michael Berthel

In our lives we often come upon people who touch us in very significant ways.

Marty and I both felt this tremendous connection with PG Tony Palangi. I spoke to Tony this past week when he called and asked about when his article was due for the ESK. I teased him and told him he could take a break and send it in a couple of days. I asked, "why don't you slow down a bit?"

He remarked, "I go to my sponsored youth meetings because of what they do for me, the young people keep me young and involved."

Tony has never missed a deadline, never spoke a mean word about anyone and always put Kiwanis and sponsored youth first. He also always called to tell me the Glens Falls club did some repairs at Kamp kiwanis and that he was so proud of them.

Yes, Tony will be missed and not forgotten. As I publish his last article in the ESK, I will be reminded about an exceptional man, whose style and gentleness touched everyone he knew.

Rest in peace dear friend.

The New York District Kiwanis Foundations has suffered a great loss. As newly elected President, I am saddened that my friend Tony will not be attending the very first meeting of my administration. Tony has been a figure of love stability and devotion at our meetings and I will deeply miss him. As sponsored youth chairman, Tony worked diligently with them all year long to help them be better people.
As an Italian immigrant myself, Tony and I shared a special bond, he often stated to me how his life and my life evolved in a similar fashion.
Carole and I would like to express our deepest sorrow to all of his family and friends for this loss and although he is no longer on this earth, he will always be in our hearts.
The New York District Kiwanis Foundation will always have a place for Anthony J Palangi.

As evidence of all of the great things said about Mr. Palangi, he was just a great man. He assisted so many people in their efforts to try to make the community a better place to be. And he very much fullfilled this goal. In providing Service, Leadership and Fellowship to people around him and in fullfilling this motto that Kiwanis always had, it made him a name to go down in history as being one of the most selfless yet determined men I've met. Thank you Mr. Palangi for giving me the experience through Kiwanis that I so admire to this day. You will be dearly missed. Christina Simione - (Circle K from 85-89)

The Kiwanis Family is reeling from the loss of this gentle giant. How much he loved young people, and how much they loved him! Generations were touched by his great heartedness. We express our sorrow and sympathy to his family, and thank them for sharing his life with the Kiwanis family. In his Christmas card to us last year, Tony wrote that "one of the great benefits of Kiwanis membership is the lifelong enduring friendships that we develop working together in Kiwanis service". Indeed we were the beneficiaries of his life. His love for Kiwanis, for his Italian American heritage, for his country, and for us will live on forever in our hearts.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, Palangi Family... I only met Tony once this past year and the Circle K NY District conference. However, I knew immediately he was an amazing person. I have pictures of him giving his speech and I remember sitting there being captivated by his words. He touched so many people during his life and I hope to do the same with mine! He will be very much missed by the Kiwanis Family and many more...

Mr. Palangi was a wonderful supporter and a great inspiration to anyone who wanted to enter service-based careers. He was kind, personable, and very relatable, and the lessons he taught us(perhaps unintentionally) were invaluable as we moved on in life. He was a lovely human being, so kind and generous, and he will be missed. The world was a better place when his charitable soul was kicking around in it. Thanks, Tony, for all that you did!

Mr. Palangi,
You were an inspiration. Your speeches encouraged all to dedicate themselves to Kamp Kiwanis. Your smiles and laughter and pats on the back were always enlightning. Singing Oh sole mia to you to make you smile and laugh was such a pleasure for me. ACC couldn't be the same without you. You will be so missed. My condolances to the entire family. Mr. Palangi is an example of a committed Kiwanian who only cared about doing good for the community and always shuned of being given any credit for his work. I will make sure to donate to Kamp Kiwanis in your name.

Mr. Palangi was my Kiwanis advisor when I was a member of the GFHS Key Club. He was so supportive and genuinely cared about the students. As I went through to Circle K, he always remembered my name when we met at district events, him as a Kiwanis advisor to ACC's Circle K. He was so proud of me for my accomplishments - I felt like part of his family. I remember him the most for always taking a minute to talk with me and see how I was doing - I think that's what always struck me about him ... He always made me feel like I was special.
I'll miss you Tony.

Tony was a great leader and an inspiration to so many. His leadership was supportive with constant gentle nudges. He has impacted tens of thousands of lives so positively. We are only saddened that those who come after will not benefit by his presence. We are encouraged that his legacy will live for a long time to come. We are all blessed to have shared his company.

NY District Kiwanis has suffered a tremendous loss. From my days in Cirlce K , 1985 - 1988, to today as a fellow Kiwanian, I remember Tony as one of the few Kiwanians who could inspire young people with his soft spoken nature. Whenever I saw him, he was always surrounded by people who wanted to talk to him. I have never heard anyone say a bad word about him. He remained vibrant and was helping young people until the day he died. Tony was the one person who never seemed to age. He will be very hard to replace in the Kiwanis community. He will be missed by myself , my husband Kevin, and my children.

Tony was a wonderful person who made the world a better place by his presence. He was a role model of class, dignity, integrity and, especially, caring for others. He showed how a life well lived can inspire and improve the lives of others around him. His love of children and his focus on the future helped him to remain remarkably vital and active far longer than his contemporaries. He will be greatly missed by everyone who has come to expect his cheerful smile and rely on his relentless work. It is hard to imagine what things will be like without him.

God bless you and keep you, Tony.

I am still stunned by the news that Tony is no longer with us. It is difficult to think of The Kamp or Key Club or Circle K or even the Adirondaks without thinking of Tony Palangi. He was always there and always involved. Tony was the guy who drove a losd of students from ACC to my District Convention in Liberty, NY in 1977 through a blinding snowstorm just so they wouldn't miss the opening session. He was the guy who the kids went to when they needed jobs or dues money or support or just a sympathetic ear.Tony wa always the quiet voice that everyone always listened to because the words were always true and honest and from the heart. Out of everything though, it is the smile and the twinkle in his eye that I will always remember. I know I'm not alone. There are scores of us who have been touched by Tony Palangi who will mourn his passing but who will remember him as one of the few who really touched us where we live.Good-bye to an old friend and a wonderful human being.

I have admired Mr. Palangi ever since the first time we met. I am lucky enough to say I had known him for 6 years. He helped out with the Key Club I was President of (Saratoga Spring High School) and recommended the Kiwanis Club that is now the sponsor of the Circle K I chartered at my university (St. John's). Sadly, I never got the chance to say thank you after we chartered this year. He will never know the supreme and utmost respect and love this district (Key Club, Circle K, or otherwise) had for him and all we can do know is honor his memory.

He was a true inspiration and my personal hero and idol.

Si e'spento serenamente oggi (He has gone out [like a candle] today).

My condolences to the entire family.

Circle K has lost a great supporter. He was always at the conferences, always making sure the students could attend and enjoy themselves. He was always supportive of me with a word of encouragement. It's not going be the same next month in lake george when he doesn't walk thru the door. You can be sure he will always be remembered by all Circle K'ers. To the Palangi Family
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
"Tony" was our Circle K adviser at ACC(78-80). I was president of the local C/K, he was always there for the members and I. Tony provided the the pat on the back or kick in the the pants when needed. He showed us how to be leaders in a fatherly way. 20 years later he did the same for my son Mike in Key club in GF. Tony's leadership span the test of time. He will be missed.

My deepest sympathy! Mr. Palangi played a very important part in my life! I was Lt. Gov. in Key Club. He was such a big help and supporter. He was always there for me. In recent years I would see him always say hi and talk to him. He sometimes needed a reminder of who I was but then remembered. He was such a sweet man!! I feel very honored to have known and worked with him!!! Take care! Rest in peace!

Wow, Tony was one of the most amazing people that I have ever met. He was a wonderful Circle K advisor. Because of Tony I was able to travel all over this country and to other country's to volunteer. I can still see him being one of the first on the dance floor at our conventions and one of the last to leave (in his 70's). He was a wonderful asset to the community that will be greatly missed.

Be Still

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.
