QUEENSBURY - Christopher W. Carlton, 49, passed away unexpectedly after an accident doing what he loved on Monday, March 11, 2024.
Born in Glens Falls on September 19, 1974, he was the son of Wayne and Joanna (Burnham) Carlton.
He attended St. Mary's Academy through 8th grade and graduated from Queensbury High School class of 1992. Chris continued his education receiving his associated degree in criminal justice and police science at Adirondack Community College.
On September 11, 1999, Chris married the love of his life, Kathleen Sears in Cadyville, NY.
Chris was a corrections officer at Washington Correction Facility for 22 years as a sergeant. He also was a co-owner of Hartman Hill Premium Firewood for six years.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, his hunting camp in Ohio, his dogs, watching his daughter play sports, and his biggest passion was owning his own business making firewood.
Chris was predeceased by his grandparents, Kenneth and Winifred Burnham and Clarence and Viola Carlton.
Left to cherish his memory include his wife of 24 years, Kathleen Carlton; daughter, Ada Nicole Carlton; parents, Wayne and Joanna Carlton; sister, Nicole and Allan Vella; in-laws: Maggie Sears and her partner Gary Breyette, Dale and Tammy Sears; sister-in-law: Melissa and James Greule; nieces: Margo Vella and Jillian Greule; nephews: Thomas and Will Vella; best friend, Corey Tilley; his labs, Echo and Clyde; along with several aunts, uncles and friends.
At the family's request there will be no calling hours. Services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Memorial donations in Chris's memory can be made to Hartman Hill LLC 603 Main St. Corinth, NY.

I am so sad to hear that your husband passed away! I didn't know him intimately but did get to know of his being a rare person of quality in our community. He was obviously a hard worker,and cared about his customers,which my wife and I are ones.
