David O. Todriff
David O. Todriff passed away on Sunday April 21, 2024, with his family by his side.
David was the son of Orville and Myrtle Todriff (Randlett) from Brant Lake where David lived for most of his life. After high school, David attended barber school and at the age of 20, he had built and opened Off The Top, a hairstyling shop located in Brant Lake which provided new jobs in town and which quickly became an interesting and entertaining place for people to get a great haircut for the whole family. He had the honor of hairstyling the Ticonderoga Drum and Fife Corps for the opening ceremony of the 1980 Olympics. David thoroughly enjoyed his work while entertaining his clients with jokes and stories where everyone went out with a smile. David later went to work at the Sagamore Resort on the security team where he enjoyed meeting well-known people from all over the world. He is remembered as a loving father and person who was always willing to help his family, friends and new acquaintances whenever he could.
Dave enjoyed living in the Adirondacks and loved hunting, fishing, hiking and making maple syrup with his sons. His other passion was travelling; one of his favorite places was Nags Head, NC vacationing with his family. One of his farthest and most important travels was with his wife, Angela to Kazakhstan in Russia to meet his daughter, Hannah, whom they adopted when she was a baby. In later years he went on cruises with his wife, Nadine and family in the Caribbean.
He is surely missed by his large family and is survived by his close and loving sister, Cathy Hayes (Grant Hayes, deceased); sons: Michael(Jessica) Todriff from Chestertown, and Matthew (Andrea) Todriff from Hudson Falls; daughter, Hannah Todriff; adopted daughters: Nishka Powell and Ceshele Powell; his granddaughters: Caroline Todriff and Celeste Todriff; granddaughter, London; and grandson, Mason; along with many other stepchildren, nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren and a large number of cousins.
The family would like to make a special thank you to the caring team at Glens Falls Hospital Intensive Care unit and Ceshele Powell, RN and stepdaughter, who was very supportive.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday May 18, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at Horicon Baptist Church State Rte 8 Brant Lake, NY, with a celebration of life to be held at 12:00 noon. Interment will be at Brant Lake Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted Barton-McDermott Funeral Home, Inc. 9 Pine St. Chestertown, NY.
