Dear Joan, Jackie and Robert,
Our prayers, thoughts and love are with you at this time. We are sorry that we are so far away and cannot be there with you.

Today we are remembering so much about Don and in particular his marvellous sense of humour, kindness, intelligence and overwhelming faith. His listening ability, his quiet and understated way of teaching and explaining the gospel readings with our small group gatherings from St. Joe’s parish benefited many of us.

We are thankful for our shared Easter, Christmas and Thanksgiving meals which contain so many cherished memories of you and Don. In his loving way of teasing, Don was so very dear.

Joan we especially send you strength, embraces and love. We know Don will continue to watch over you. His love for his family and his sharing of his faith continues to be an inspiration to us.

We join in sending our heartfelt wishes for Auntie Joan and all of Uncle Don's dear family and friends. We have many warm memories of Uncle Don including the backyard bar-B-Q's at the Pierrefonds house, his enthusiasm for many sports including skiing, his keen sense of humor and contagious laugh. During my recent visit, Uncle Don displayed tremendous courage in the face of his illness, cracked several jokes and truly savoured his chocolate covered marshmallows! He spoke with great love and appreciation of his relationships, and will remain an inspiration to me, my husband, Peter, and our children, Maya and Liam, as we reflect upon what is truly important in life. We will be with you in spirit as you continue to remember Uncle Don, celebrate his many contributions and unique role in our lives. With much love and deep sympathy, Adrienne

Although we have never met (only spoke on the telephone), I would like to express my heartfelt condolences for your loss. As a volunteer at St. Vincent's, I spent many hours with Don over the past 4 months, and I hope that I was able to help make his last months easier. We spoke at length, and he told me that he had a happy and fulfilling life. Please accept my sincere sympathy.

Dear aunt Joan, Jackie and Robert, I am sorry to learn of uncle Don's death. I will remember him as the positive, optimistic and kind man that he was. His strength and courage is an inspiration to me. When I last saw him this past August, inspite of all of the difficulties of ALS, he remained positive and shared a joke or two. My thoughts are with you. Love, Colleen
