ADIRONDACK - Donald E. Mahler 85, died Friday, January 3, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born October 18, 1939 in Albany, N.Y. he was the son of the late Raymond and Doris (Campbell) Mahler.
Don was an auto body technician for many years, working with fiberglass repairs on Corvettes was his specialty, and he rebuilt many cars. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports especially baseball and basketball.
He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Besides his parents he is predeceased by his son, Joseph Mahler; great-grandson, Travis Mahler; one brother, Richard Mahler; in-laws, LaGrand and Hilda Robbins. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Barbara (Robbins) Mahler; two sons, Donnie (Jami) Mahler, Thomas Mahler; one daughter, Susan (Allen) Teal; one sister, Molly (Terry) Eggleston; also three grandchildren, Trey Mahler, Trevor Mahler, Jonah Teal (Ryan Brantigan); two great-grandchildren, Corbin and Charli; close friends, Larry and Claudia Wood, Hazel Robbins, Fred Witz; and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives may call from 2 to 4 p.m., Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Barton-McDermott Funeral Home, Inc., 9 Pine St., Chestertown, NY 12817. Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m., at funeral home with Rev. Arnold Stevens officiating.
Memorials in Don's name may be made to North Warren Emergency Squad, P.O. Box 323, Chestertown, NY 12817.
Spring interment will be at Adirondack Cemetery, Adirondack, N.Y.
