We all were blessed when you were born

Our hearts were filled with joy

There's something special,it was said

About this little boy

Your mom she knew that you would be

Protector of her home

She also knew that you would need

To be free and to roam

You led both lives along the way

You walked along the edge

Always there when called upon

When asked,you didn't hedge

You lived in ways that made me think

"How will he get along"

Yet you trained yourself, you made your mark

And proved that I was wrong

You grew so quick from boy to man

The years go by so fast

It seemed each visit that we shared

Got shorter than the last

I sure wish that I'd seen you more

And had the chance to say

How very proud I am of you

For finding your own way

The angels came from Heaven

Back in nineteen eighty-one

They touched a child,a boy,

And that was you,my sisters son

And now they've come to take you back

It seems that in God's plan

A time is set for each of us

And this is yours young man

I haven't really said good-bye

In time I guess I will

DUSTIN,you'll be in my heart

Until it too stands still

See you on the other side

Little smokey bro... I wanted to write this thinking of happy memories, but I find myself crying again, and I know how angry that would make you. I want you to know that you will always be in my heart and on my mind. You can't imagine how much this town misses you, its not the same without you at the hotel, or eating our french dips at the diner, running into you at the end of Mobil Mike's counter. You are missed. I know how thankful you would be of this town for taking care of mamma right now (and me). You have fun up there with Clint and Brian and until I can see you again know I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU!!

My dearest brother...there is nothing in this world that can fill the void in my heart when you left us...no words that could possibly take away this pain that we have never felt before. Everday I look at your pictures and wish I could have gotten and you would have given one last bear hug like we used to give. One last "I love you bro" just so you knew. But I know you do. I wish you could have seen your little nieces once more. It was funny how they called you Uncle Smokey. But you will always be in their minds and hearts as well. There are so many memories to tell and to share. And we will talk about them till it is our time to go. I have you in heart and mind since you were born. Every childhood memory till now. Everyone loved you even if you were a cocky little thing, but thats what we loved about you cause you had the biggest heart as well. I love you and will miss you more than you know. We will take good care of momma now like you used to. She was the one always under your wing...her "worldly protector" as we called you. I will see you in my dreams and always in my heart. Love you bro.

Thank you to all of Smokey's friends and the town of Long Lake and town's that surround it. I do not know most you but seeing how many of you who came to Dustin's memorial service to pay respects was overwhelming. Thank you for being there and supporting my mother who needs it now more than ever. It is wonderful to see a community come together as you did in a time of surrow. Thank you for being there for all of us. I know Smokey will forever be in everyone's hearts.

Love, Trina, Travis, Kailey & Natalie

Here you are standing up for me, like you always did. You always were and always will be, my "Best Man"!

Smokey,
We have had so many good times together. You have been my best friend for atleast 18 years. These past few days since your passing, even though all I feel is sorrow, every thought that runs thruogh my head has been a happy memory of us and our family's and friends. Some that make me laugh and some that make me cry. I can't imagine how life is going to be without you, now I will have no one to blame when I get into trouble! You always brought out the wild side in me, and many others! You were like a brother to me, you were and will always be my best friend, and my best man. I will miss you GREATLY and someday we will be together again!!

Dustin... a young man that brought joy to the hearts of everyone that knew him. It's not fair that his light was extinguished so young. He had so much to give and yet he had already given so much. At the memorial yesterday his boss spoke saying everyone in town was praying for a miracle, hoping that somehow Dustin was ok. There were several churches up in St. Lawrence County, NY that were also urgently praying the same thing.

I think Dustin left a legacy...live life like there is no tomorrow, pray and believe for miracles, love and find joy in all things, Be friends with everyone because when all is done it is our memories that reside in the hearts and minds of those we leave behind.

Dustin is GREATLY missed!! and he will always be remembered.

God bless you Kathy, Tanya, Treina, Alicia and Josh..with peace, hope, and joy. Dustin would want that for you.

Love you all,

Kerrie (Young) French

Where to start? As a cousin that lived next door for my childhood, Dustin was a brother to me. Not only was he best friends with my brother, Jason Young, but he was loved in our family as a brother and a son. We are in a great loss and will mourne with Kathy, Trina, Alicia, Josh, and Tonya. I am so sorry to hear about a young man who had so much love inside to give, trying to take one last breathe of life before he would pass over. The whole family in Long Lake are in my prayers, thoughts and I love you guys. Again, I am sorry and if you need anything, I am here.

There is nothing that one can say that could possibly mean anything to you now. The book "Journey of Souls" could take some of the wounds from your heart at this time.
