Edward Hyde Obituary
February 22, 1929 - October 11, 2024
SOUTH GLENS FALLS - Edward Hyde, 95, passed away on Friday, October 11, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family.
Born February 22, 1929, in East Bethel, Vt., he was the son of the late William and Alice (Hyzer) Hyde.
He attended East Bethel, Vermont Grade School. He graduated from South Royalton High School in 1947. He attended Tufts College 1947 to 1951, graduating with a Bachelor's degree.
He served in the United States Army in 1951 to 1953, with an honorable discharge. He taught for one year in Franklyn, Vt. He attended the University of Illinois 1954 to 1955, graduating with a Master's degree in Education. He taught for two years in Charleston, Ill.
In 1957, he married the love of his life, Margot Rebham. They moved to South Glens Falls in 1958. Ed taught History there until retiring in 1989. They were married for a wonderful 66 years until her passing in 2023.
Ed enjoyed woodworking, making beautiful pieces for the house. He enjoyed skiing, especially at Hickory Hill with his three sons. He liked golfing with friends. With the family, he loved camping, especially at Silver Lake, in Barnard, Vt.
At Ed's request, there will be no calling hours.
A funeral service were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 18, 2024, at the Maplewood Parkway Methodist Church, 15 Maplewood Parkway, South Glens Falls, N.Y. 12803.
Burial followed the service at Southside Cemetery, Moreau.
