Mrs. Lortie was a true teacher. I continue to value the support she gave me and how she encouraged my writing. I've often thought of her throughout my own teaching career and how she guided me so long ago. (HF Class of '71)
Sincere condolences to her family.

What a wonderful life Betty led - full of laughter and love. She touched many people with her generosity and we are better people because of her. Betty helped my husband through the RCIA program at St. Mary's and upon completion gave him a beautiful statue of St. Joseph and the holy family. It sits right near the front door and every time we see it we will be reminded of Betty and her caring and selfless spirit. I am so sorry for your loss.

Mrs. Lortie was a real inspiration for me to become an educator. She just didn't teach about literature she encouraged us to think and not be afraid to express our thoughts and interpretations. She cared about her students as people and she followed our development throughout high school. Thank you Mrs. Lortie for your impact not just on my life but so many students. Rest in Peace.

Mr. and Mrs. Lortie, Leon and Betty Ann, were our neighbors. They moved to their new home on Meadowbrook Road with their young and growing family in the 1960's. My sisters and I were teens and babysat in the neighborhood. I often took care of the children when they were able to get out. In the summer, when she was completing her Master's Degree, I took care of Ray, Brian and Suzie. Those were busy days but fun. In my mother's final years, Betty Ann was a great comfort to her as a neighbor and friend, and a Eucharistic Minister visiting Mom at home and in the hospital. To me, no matter my age, whenever we met, she was always "Mrs. Lortie". Rest in peace, Mrs. Lortie, you deserve it. My deepest condolences to Ray, Brian, Suzie and their families.
Sincerely, Judy Johnson Strohmeyer

Betty Ann and I taught side by side for years at school. She was one of the first to welcome me to the fold. Always there with the smile, kind word and helping hand. Her advise was the best for a new teacher. We became great friends and coworker. She gave me help not just in teaching , but also in life. Your life will be richer remembering her words of advise. She was a great believer in her faith and lived her life following those beliefs. She certainly has a place waiting for her in heaven. I am sorry for your loss.

What a special person, teacher, mentor, inspirer. Just loved every interaction with Mrs. Lorrie, first as a young student in her class to years later seeing her occasionally and having the joy of her living next to our Aunt Janice and Uncle Don. Talk about a ‘life well lived’! Mrs. Lorrie is an inspiration for all of us of how to live and serve others. We now have her as our advocate looking down on us and expecting the same from each of us. To her family how lucky you are to have this divine inspiration living with you all these years! Thoughts fo you and your loved ones at this time of loss.

For a short time, I was a caregiver to Mrs. Lortie. What a sweet woman. We had so much fun together. I would put the old songs on my phone and she would sing along with them. The Wheels on the Bus was one of her favorites. We would spend our time together talking about her life as a child and her visits with her aunt. She will be remembered as a beautiful soul. My sincere condolences to the family.

I remember having Mrs. Lortie as an English teacher many, many years ago. She was among one of my favorites. I have seen her occasionally through the years and I always enjoyed visiting with her. Most recently she joined myself and Sandy in Bible study. She still had that same wit and sense of humor. She will be missed but she has left a legacy that will not soon be forgotten.
