LAKE LUZERNE - On Tuesday, March 16, 2021, Eugene Robert Moon of Lake Luzerne passed away at the age of 88. Eugene "Gene" was born July 9, 1932, in Bolton, NY to Ralph Moon and Hazel (Colson) Moon.
Gene attended Lake George School. He enjoyed anything outdoors and spent his time fishing, hunting, and riding his horse.
It was on one of these rides with friends that he met Myrtle Bennett of Lake Luzerne in 1952. They married the following year on Dec. 5, 1953. Gene and Myrtle raised six children in Lake Luzerne.
He worked as a mechanic at Sears in Glens Falls for 20 years and later retired from Luzerne Central Schools where many remember him as their bus driver. After retiring, he could always be found in his garage tinkering with various projects.
Gene and Myrtle loved camping and summer trips to Maine.
He is pre-deceased by his wife of 67 years Myrtle Moon in 2018, his brother Ernest Crandall in 2007, and his granddaughter Crystal Woodard in 2006.
He is survived by his children: Terry (BettyLee), Ricky, Cindy (Bill) Woodard, Robert, Lonnie (Evan), and Becky (Chuck) Jones; also by his grandchildren: Benjamin Harrington, Greg Moon, Carlee Breault, Terry Lee, Bruce Woodard, Cole Moon, Eric Moon, and their spouses; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Due to Covid, a service will be planned for later this spring.

Miss you every day Dad. It is so sad that Covid took you when nothing else could. Now you can chase that last deer for Eternity. Never stop, pop.

Mr. Moon as I called him was my bus driver for years. He would laugh when I missed the bus on First Ave, and caught it on Second Ave. When I went to visit my Grandma at the Warren Center, I made sure I said hello to him.
I send my condolences and prayers to the family. Rest In Peace Mr. Moon.

Nothing can take the place of a loving father. I know Gene had a great affection and loved spending time with Terry , my neighbor. The prayers of my family go with you at this sad time of his departure .
