Gary Castle Moon
Sept. 29, 1947 - July 12, 2024
PORT ORANGE, FL - With heavy hearts we announce the death of our father, Gary Castle Moon, who passed away July 12, 2024, at the age of 76.
Gary brought light and laughter to all who knew him through his kindness, generosity, and wit. For many years Gary owned his own Pumbing and Heating business before joining the Local 773 Pipe Fitters Union.
Gary spent his golden years in Florida where he enjoyed crossword puzzles on his balcony and walks along the beach. He established a family of friends there, including those he met while working at the Daytona International Speedway.
Gary is survived by his daughter, Amy Moon (Matthew Petty); son, Andrew Hand; daughter, Ashley Nguyen (Dong Nguyen); grandsons: Eamonn Petty (Audrey) and Ethan Petty; granddaughter, Madison Nguyen; great-grandson, Emerson Petty; niece, Jennifer Cherry Haga (Elmer); sister-in-law, Terry Moon; nephews: Reagan and Tyler Moon and their children.
We take solace knowing that Gary will be joining his siblings and best friends, Maureen and Bobby. There is no service planned at this time.

The Moon family resided outside of Glens Falls on Bay Rd, near where Adirondack Cardiology is now. Despite the long commute into Glens Falls he graduated with us in the "Class of 1965." Since I lived just off of Bay Street on Terra Cotta Ave, we often hung out together.
The entire community, and I, regret Gary's passing in hopes that we will all sit around the table telling stories with Gary, Maureen and Bobby sometime in the future.

I worked at Hercules with Gary for many years and also had him do plumbing work for me at my homes. He was always a pleasure. A very smart guy

Whenever we needed anything done, Gary was our go-to. He always had a smile on his face, a funny joke, and a good story. He was a man of humor, empathy, and endless patience. He will be missed greatly

When i was much younger and worked for gary i was amazed every day at his quick witted humor
and his ability to memorize all of the part numbers on all of our everyday fittings we kept in the truck . He would talk me into going into the craziest of places and with his sense of humor make me want to do it. What a joy it was to be there with him and bobby. I think it was around the early 80's. I think of those boys all the time. My condolences to amy and the rest of the family members . Todd murphy

Gary and i worked together as pipefitters at ciba Geigy. We were good friends. B AQmy may remember this as she was with us on an overnight hike on Mendel mountain. It was in the fall and cold; Anyhow we got lost on the mountain and it got dark so we had to stay on the mountain. All our food was froze, my dog was barking all night. We bedid down under a tarp. I thought we were deat. We all left our boots outside and it snowed that night. We got up and left. From then on my nickname for him was Chingishkook. I never forgot that night and i will never foreget Gary. Peace
