Harold "Bud" Taylor
Dec. 6, 1939 - Dec. 1, 2023
GLEN LAKE - Harold "Bud" Taylor, 83, passed away peacefully in his Glen Lake home, surrounded by his family, on Friday, December 1, 2023.
He was born in Glens Falls to Harold and Beatrice (Farr) Taylor on December 6, 1939.
Bud was well known in the community. As a parent, he was a little league coach and member of the PTA and the Grandstanders.
As his children grew, he served on the Glens Falls Planning Board. He was elected as 3rd Ward Councilman for two terms and Councilman at Large for two terms.
Bud was the founder and former President of the Crandall Park Beautification Committee. In addition, he was elected as Warren County Supervisor for four terms. Bud also served as Chairman of the Warren-Washington County IDA. He was a former President and board member of the Open Door Soup Kitchen and a former board member of the Economic Development Corporation and was a recipient of the Walter P. Juckett Award.
He worked 29 years at General Electric in various positions. During his last few years at GE, he started an insurance business, now Taylor and Leonard, in 1985 with his son, Nick. Of course, his wife Pat, was with them as Receptionist and Office Manager. Bud worked there until 2008 when he and Pat retired.
Bud was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Lorraine Anderson; his brother, Richard Taylor; and most recently, his wife and best friend of 61 years, Patricia S. Taylor on March 23, 2023.
Above all, Bud's proudest accomplishment was the life and family he created with Pat. Bud and Pat always put their family first, and that family keeps growing.
He is survived by his three children: Nicholas (Jill) Taylor, Linda (Ethan) Hall and Nancy (Dennis) Defayette; ten grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

Bud was a neighbor and friend who we got to know better when he helped with some city concerns. His public service and efforts to improve the Glens Falls and Warren county community was so admirable and he will be greatly missed. Thoughts and prayers to his family. Rest in Peace Bud.
