QUEENSBURY - Helen Callaghan, 93, passed away on Monday, December 9, 2024, at Fort Hudson Nursing Home.

Born on March 23, 1931, in the Bronx, N.Y., she was the daughter of Rocco and Julia (Hornok) Pellettieri.

She graduated from Manual Training High School in 1949 and was a long time employee at CIGNA Insurance as a secretary.

Helen was proud and honored to participate in the Ms. New York Senior America pageant at the age of 80. She was also a Sunday school teacher at New Covenant Church in East Meadow, N.Y. for many years, and a member of the Rosary at St. Bernard's Church in Levittown, N.Y.

In addition to her parents, Rocco and Julia Pellettieri, she is predeceased by her son, Paul Callaghan; her husband of 60 years, Francis Callaghan; and siblings, Nunzio Pellettieri, Virginia Laney, Robert Pellettieri and Margaret Malik.

Helen is survived by her son, Thomas Callaghan and his wife, Kathleen of Queensbury; her grandchildren, Colleen Callaghan and her fiancé, Brian Goodwine and Brian Callaghan and his wife, Megan; and her great-grandson, Connor Callaghan all of Atlanta, Ga.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date with family and friends on Long Island.

The family would like to thank Lisa Bombard, who for over the last five years provided Helen with care, compassion and most of all friendship and the staff of Fort Hudson Nursing Home for the support the last two months of her life.
