Jack Crannell Obituary

Jack F. Crannell

Jack F. Crannell, 100, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2025.

Born on February 21, 1925, in Glens Falls, Jack was the son of Forrest J. and Gertrude P. Crannell. A lifelong resident of West Glens Falls, he graduated from Glens Falls High School in 1943. Following graduation, Jack enlisted in the United States Navy, serving on a PT boat during World War II.

After returning home from the war, Jack met and married the love of his life, Marie Ann Cook, in 1947. Together, they raised two children, Terry and Jackie, in the home that Jack solely built. Jack's adult life was centered on family and hard work.

Jack ran the family business, Crannell's Dairy until he retired at the age of 48. After retiring from the dairy business, Jack invested in real estate, managing many apartment buildings to fill his time. In Jack's later years, you could find him spending countless hours in his woodworking shop. Although tables were his specialty, Jack was known to make a large variety of hardwood furniture that he would donate to charities or nonprofit organizations in his community.

Jack was a proud father, grandfather and great-grandfather who took immense joy in watching his family grow over the years.

He was predeceased by his wife, Marie; his son, Terry; his sister, Betty Eggleston and her two sons, Richard and James.

Jack is survived by his daughter, Jacqueline Coon and her husband, David, of Queensbury; his granddaughter, Lisa Morris and her husband, Bill, and their children, Katherine and William, of Moreau; two grandsons, Michael Coon and his sons, James and Jack, of Queensbury; and Justin Crannell of Queensbury.

Per Jack's wishes, there will be no calling hours. Services will be private.

Dear Jackie,Dave and family,
We are so saddened by the news of your father's passing.
You have been so blessed to have had him for so many years. Ken said he should be the poster child for McDonald's; living to 100 having eaten so many meals at that establishment.
Take solace that your Mom,Terry and other family members have been waiting a
long time for him to come home.
You and your family are in our prayers

Jackie, I'm so sorry about your dad's passing. I got to know him when I worked with your aunt Betty (his sister) and I new right away he was one of the good guys. I still remember working with you and Susie and all our friends at The Fashion Shop never thinking that when I went to the Town of Queensbury, that I'd still be able to keep in touch with and you and Susie and then the rest of the family including your Dad. Special thoughts and prayers are heading your way. Lots of love to the whole family. Judy (Jay) Fish

Jackie and family,
We are so very sorry to learn of Jack's passing. What a long full life he had! There are so many memories of shared moments with Jack and even more with Marie one of mom's dearest friends. Going to get ice cream @ the dairy, seeing your dad @ Goldstocks and being lucky enough to have one of his tables he refused payment for. I'll always remember them both as loving their family and spreading joy. Our deepest condolences to you and your family.

Jackie---So very sorry for the loss of your father. He sure made it to a good age. Anytime I would see a red corvette (I think), if they waved to me, I knew it was Jack. He sure loved that car. He'd stop into Doberts to say hi to everyone and was always so nice and funny. Again, I'm sorry for your loss. Nancy LaFlure and family

I´ve known Jack my whole life as my parents were great friends of Jack and Marie. When my Dad needed a job Jack hired him at the dairy and I remember going in his parents house at the dairy and meeting his parents. My Mom and Dad chose Marie as my middle name. What an honor. My sister went to Austin Beauty School with Jackie after High School. I got to go visit and stay a couple nights with them in Albany.
Jack was always happy and I Never saw him mad! I remember when their son Terry started racing motocross. Jack and Terry would work on his bikes in the basement. We went to Terry´s races and that´s when I wanted a dirt bike and it had to be a Bultaco like Terry´s! Jack was an Amazing Dad and always put his family first. My deepest condolences and love to Jackie and the family. Love, Deena Winslow- Champine

Hi Jackie, I´m sorry to hear about your Dad´s death. He lived a good life and a long one. I have many fond memories of him, of course, from Goldstocks and from you. Time stops for no one, eh? He was a good person and I´m sure that you´ll miss him. I always will remember him mounting bindings and working on skis at Goldstocks. It´s where I met you. I hope that you are well. Take care. Love, Pat
