It has been several decades since I was student at Queensbury HS (classmate of Holly) - I have always remembered "Mr. Kneeshaw" as a straight shooter and will never forget when he pulled me aside one day and talked about how he had met my father in the Navy during their service in Korea. It is clear by his obit and comments here, he led a full and rewarding life. No surprise to me. My condolences to his family and extended family.

It is hard to put into words the value of Jim’s contribution over many years as a member of the Lake George Park Commission board. His service is emblematic of his values as a human being, a commitment to lend his considerable talents to help his fellow citizens, his community and to the cause of preserving a natural resource so many love and rely on.
Commission members are appointed by the Governor but serve without compensation for long terms. The board is assigned the principal responsibility for fashioning the often-unpopular programs and policies protecting the Lake which necessarily restrict people’s property and uses. A commissioner is often called upon to decide individual matters of permits and enforcement that are immeasurably important to the affected citizens. It’s not easy to sit in judgement and it sometimes costs you friends.
Jim represented the best of what is good in government, participation out of community-interest, not self-interest, to uphold the law in a way that is deferential to the individual, to be attentive, and fair-minded. Layer on top of that, he was fun doing it.
