Janet Belden Obituary

Janet Louise "Peanut" Belden

February 2, 1943 - August 9, 2025

HUDSON FALLS-Janet Louise "Peanut" Belden. Born on February 2, 1943, in Norwalk, Conn., she was the daughter of the late Prentiss and Addie (Brown) Higgins and raised by her stepmother, Nora (Cram) Higgins. Mom, grandma, best friend, and jack of all trades to so many, passed away Saturday, August 9th 2025 at the age of 82. Peacefully entering her next chapter of life to rekindle her long lost love and beloved husband Harold of 50 wonderful years and her first child April and grandchild Nathaniel Barber.

After Graduating from Queensbury High, she began working at the A&W in Brandon Vt. where she first met Harold A Belden of Benson Vt. They were married on July 21, 1962, in Fair Haven, Vt.

Together they became farmers working on the family-owned farm in Benson Vt. with their two daughters. They then moved to Hudson Falls, N.Y. in 1975. Janet and Harold were very competitive with their famous bowling team, the Drifters, and were members of the American Bowling Congress in Vermont and New York. Janet loved camping, fishing, and animals. She enjoyed crafting, baking, and bowling. Most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren and family.

Janet was one of the most dedicated and loyal people one could ever know, asking for nothing and giving her all. Her famous meatballs and awesome eclairs that she shared with the bowling community, family, friends and neighbors were a godsend and will be missed by all.

Janet's love of animals was immense, no animal went unloved or unsheltered. Her gifted talent of arts and crafts filled her home and others with joy as she gave those gifts to all.

Janet would never turn down a project or any job. Be it painting, cleaning or replacing the roof on her own home, Janet took on the challenge. If you needed to replace a sink or someone to watch your pets, or even milk your dairy herd, Janet would be the one to call.

Left to cherish her wonderful memories and great love are her two daughters, Robin (Michael) and their two children, Jack and Josh Dornan; daughter Tinia (Chris) and son, Shaun Barber; sister, Catherine Smith; many nieces and nephews, and her beloved cat, Tigger Sassy Belden.

In honoring Janet's request there will be no services. Burial will be at Benson Cemetery in the Town of Benson, Vt.

In Janet's honor, please consider making donations to the charity of one's choice or a local animal rescue.

Robin, Mike and Tinia, I don't even know where to begin, I am so sorry for your loss. Your Mom was an amazing woman, such a loyal friend to my parents especially my Mom. She was a very welcome help to us, sometimes anticipating what we would even need before we even knew. Thinking of all of you sending hugs and prayers. Love to you all Bernice and Family

I delivered Janet´s mail for many years, she was always very friendly . She used to come to the bowling alley & bring my bowling team treats. Janet called me "twinkle toes " because of the way I bowled ! I will miss you!
