Judith Dunnem Obituary

BRAINTREE, Vt. On Thursday, July 3, 2008, after several years of declining health, Judith Ann Lord Dunnem, 66, lost her long battle in the Garden Room at Gifford Medical Center in Randolph, Vt. Born Oct. 30, 1941, at Lake Sunnyside, N.Y. and raised in Hudson Falls and Fort Edward, N.Y., she was the daughter of Beatrice McKinney Lord Aubrey and Marshall Baldwin Lord. A member of Fort Edward High School Class of 1959, Judie enlisted in the Women's Army Corps in 1960. She took basic training at Fort McClellan, Ala. and received her training as a dental hygienist/assistant at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, where she was outstanding graduate of her class. She served until her marriage in 1962 to Alvin E. Dunnem, a career soldier. They spent the rest of his career stationed in numerous places in the U.S. and Europe and upon his retirement in 1979, they settled in Randolph, Vt. while her husband attended law school. In 1983 they moved to Cambridge, N.Y. At one time, Judie and Sharron Messina ran a gift and craft business, known as Two-Twenty-Two, in Cambridge. Judie was, for a number of years, administrative assistant at the law firm of Dunnem & Imhof, Attorneys. She was an accomplished seamstress, and an avid Elvis, Brenda Lee and Dallas Cowboys fan. She was a member of the Fort Edward Baptist Church, Order of the Eastern Star in both Fort Edward and Cambridge, Capt. Maxon American Legion Post in Cambridge, a charter member of The Women's (Military) Memorial in Washington, D.C. and a volunteer at Mary McClellan Hospital in Cambridge. Later in life, she had a second grade reading group through R.S.V.P. in Albany, N.Y. She was predeceased by her parents, an infant brother, two nephews and a niece. She is survived by her husband, Alvin, of Summerfield, Fla., her children and their families: daughter, Kyle Marie Southworth, husband Greg, and step-granddaughter, Kaitlyn, of Braintree, Vt.; grandsons, Daniel Dunnem of Johnson, Vt. and Keith Lecours of Enosburg, Vt.; son, James Edward Dunnem of Davenport, Fla.; daughter, Kim Vellucci, husband Anthony and grandchildren Alexander and Alyssa Marie of Fuquay-Varina, N.C.; and son, David Marshall Dunnem, wife Margaret (Peg) and grandson, Hugh Spencer of Stratford, Ontario, Canada. She is also survived by a sister, Mary Lord Woodard of the town of Moreau, N.Y.; half-brothers, Michael Aubrey of the town of Moreau, N.Y., Robert Lord and family of Ann Arbor, Mich. and Marshall (Butch) Lord and family of Stuart Draft, Va.; her very dear friend Shirley Chicoine of Cambridge, N.Y.; and many nieces, nephews and their families. As per her wishes, Judie was cremated and a private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. If you wish to make a donation in her name, please donate to your local March of Dimes chapter for their work with premature babies. Arrangements were made by Day Funeral Home of Randolph, Vt. Considered Judie a good friend from the time we met in elementary school. Had some really good times at FEHS. So sorry to hear of her passing. She was a good friend and will be missed. My prayers are with her family.
