Kathryne Paul Obituary

Kathryne Paul

April 18, 1944 - October 29, 2025

Kathryne (Kate) Paul died peacefully on October 29, 2025, at Shaker Place Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

Kate was a spiritual woman of deep faith, a beloved teacher whose kindness and patience touched countless lives. She was a gifted musician, a talented artist, and a loyal friend to many.

Born on April 18, 1944, in Chicopee, Massachusetts, Kate was the fifth of eight children of Raymond and Marjorie (Couture) Paul.

She was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Joan. She is survived by her soulmate and best friend, Mary Brummagyn; sisters, Gloria, Marie, Elinor, Grayce, and Marjorie; and her brother, Raymond. Also joining in grief are many in-laws, nieces, and nephews. Kate shared a special love and bond with her nieces, Erin, Mary, and Kathryn.

After graduating from St. Mary's High School in Hudson, Kate entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet. She earned her degrees from the College of Saint Rose and Saint Michael's College. Throughout her career, she served as a teacher, principal, and coach in the dioceses of Albany and Syracuse.

After 25 years ministering with the Sisters, Kate continued her calling in education and pastoral work. One of the great highlights of her career was her ministry on the Standing Rock Reservation in North Dakota.

Nothing was more precious to Kate than spending her summers at Hadlock Pond with her friends and the Casey family. Her sisters joined her there every summer, creating memories filled with laughter, song, and love. Kate was the campfire musician and the tireless organizer of activities for all who crossed the camp threshold. Alongside Liz, she co-founded "Camp Chaos", always keeping the joy and spirit of children at the heart of everything.

My first Basketball coach as well as the person who introduced me to hiking our local mountains starting with Mt Greylock in her home state of Massachusetts. She was loved at St. Mary´s in Glens Falls as a teacher and coach. It was there Mary `Brum´ was influenced by Kate´s spirituality and heart to serve others. There are some people who influence you strongly in life, Kate Paul was such a person! Rest well and fly high. No doubt your beloved native friends and our God has embraced you so lovingly.
