Kristina Breitmeyer Obituary

Kristina M. Breitmeyer

Jan. 4, 1954 - Aug. 1, 2024

GLENS FALLS - Kristina M. Breitmeyer, 70, passed away after a two year battle with cancer on Thursday, August 1, 2024, with loved ones by her side.

Born January 4, 1954, in Wyandotte, MI, she was the daughter of Fritz and Arvilla (Wohlin) Vikstrom.

Kris graduated from Andover High School in Bloomfield Hills, MI in 1971. She then went on to graduate from University of Michigan for Natural Resources in 1974, and from Michigan State University for Horticulture in 1976.

On June 19, 1976, Kris married the love of her life and always her best friend, Bruce W. Breitmeyer in Gregory, MI. The two were happily married for 48 years.

Before opening her own flower shop, Kris worked at Neilsen's Flower Shop and Greenhouse in Ann Arbor, MI, MSU Cooperative Extension Service in Lansing, MI and Mountainside Florist in Tupper Lake. Since she had a green thumb and an eye for design, Kris went on to open Trillium Florist in Tupper Lake in May of 1985, which she owned and operated for 38 years, finally closing its doors in December of 2023. She loved to see people happy with flowers whatever the occasion.

In Kris's free time, she enjoyed landscaping and doing numerous improvement projects on her and her husband's home and bird watching.

In addition to her parents, Kris was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Febe and John Vikstrom of MI; maternal grandparents, Catherine and John Wohlin of MI; brothers: Erik A. Vikstrom, and Lars G. Vikstrom of MI; and nephew, Nils A. Vikstrom of MI.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Bruce W. Breitmeyer of Glens Falls; sister, Kerstin I. Vikstrom of Mesa, AZ; aunts and uncles: Dennis and Dorothy Vikstrom of Washington, MI, Robert and Sandy Vikstrom of Anderson, SC, Mary Zurakowski of Richmond, MI and Mary Ann Vikstrom of Utica, MI; in-laws, Douglas and Pamela Soules of Coos Bay, OR; nieces and nephews: Erik J. Vikstrom of White Lake, MI, Andrea (Tim) Johnson of Mesa, AZ, Melissa Smallwood of Litchfield Park, AZ, Paul Smallwood, Jr. of Phoenix, AZ, Kiel Smallwood of Gilbert, AZ, Luke Soules of San Luis Obispo, CA and Rebecca Soules of Harrodsburg, KY; and her pet, Sebastion.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. A memorial gathering will be held at a future date.

In loving memory of Kristina, donations can be made to C.R. Wood Cancer Center of Glens Falls Hospital, Pruyn Pavilion,100 Park Street, Glens Falls, NY 12801 or to a charity of your choice.

The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to all the doctors, nurses, and staff at the C.R. Wood Cancer Center, Glens Falls Hospital, and the Albany Medical Center who cared for Kris for the last two years and her friends, Patty Farrell of Long Lake, NY, and Peggy Paiement of Sydney, NY for their support and friendship over the years.

Our Aunt Kristina was an amazing and one of a kind woman. She had a very peaceful soul, and she also had amazing kindness. We hope you knew how grateful Tim and I were for all of your beautiful help with our wedding. You helped us make our wedding a very beautiful and memorable day. We are also grateful our son was able to spend some time with his Great Aunt Kristina, before your passing. We all love you Aunt Kristina, and you will never be forgotten. We will also show Uncle Bruce the love and support during his time of loss. You will be forever missed and loved Aunt Kristina, and we all cherished the time we got to spend with you.

Kris was a great gal, both to me and my family. She treated us like family. Last Thanksgiving Bruce came to my door with pumpkin pies for, just like every past Thanksgiving; I cred because I realized how much effort she had to have used to bake those. Best damn pies I ever ate! Fair Winds and Following Seas

Fair winds and following seas,

may forever you feel, upon your cheek, the salty breeze.

Your spirit lives on in many a heart,

your words captured, and never to depart.

May your loved ones have the comfort in knowing,

to heaven is where you are going.

For all that they have to do is look above,

and they will be reminded of your love.

Will miss her, one of the finest people I have ever known. Love, Boonie'
