Kristopher G. Nutting
April 17, 1972 - Jan. 31, 2024
QUEENSBURY, NY - Kristopher "Kris" G. Nutting, 51 of Queensbury, NY, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2024, at Albany Medical Center after succumbing to the aftermath of a severe stroke.
Born on April 17, 1972, at Bellevue Hospital in Niskayuna, NY to Kenneth Nutting and Rosemary Koller Nutting. Kris attended St. Stanislaus School in Amsterdam, NY before relocating and continuing his education in the Niskayuna School District becoming a 1991 Niskayuna High School graduate. He then attended Schenectady Community College.
Up until his passing, Kris was the Chief Operating Officer of BMI Supply Group, a theatrical supply and installation company located in Queensbury, NY. The projects he was most proud of were at the U.S. Senate, the renovations at Palace Theater in Albany, NY, the house lighting at Proctor's Theater in Schenectady, NY and S.P.A.C in Saratoga Springs, NY and lighting throughout River's Casino in Schenectady, NY. Additional projects at C.O.O.L. Insurance Arena in Glens Falls, NY, the Double H Ranch, in Lake Luzerne, NY; which was co-founded by Charles R. Wood and Paul Newman, and, high schools near and afar.
His interest in the theatre and show business began at an early age. While in high school, his technical skills began with participating in lighting and sound. From there much of his skills were self-taught and continued to flourish. Following high school, he did work for live shows at the Palace Theater in Albany, NY, live shows and concerts at the then Knickerbocker Arena in Albany, NY. He also had the opportunity as a lighting technician for Dick Clark's Rocking New Year in Times Square.
Kris was very active and liked staying busy. He would recognize what needs to be done and just do it. Always helpful, there was not one selfish bone in his body. He enjoyed cycling since a teenager, cross-country skiing, kayaking, carpentry, reading on his Kindle, good movies, music, Little Stevie's Underground Garage, and, spending free time at the family lake house on Sacandaga Lake, which he made many improvements at. He looked forward to relaxing on summer weekends with Carrie, Hunter his kayaking buddy, Shadow, and family. He also became a pretty good cook and liked to try new recipes and ways of cooking.
He was often called an "animal whisperer" for his natural ability to attract and bond with animals of all kinds, successfully training his family dogs. Kris was always well known for his great sense of humor and practical jokes, his hard work ethic, and kind nature. He was also called "Boy Genius" by his sister for his technical talent and knowledge. Kris's interest in shows, movies and music was extraordinary. All which had a positive life-lasting influence among his friends, peers, his sister and her friends, which they still are passionate about until this very day.
In 2016, he beat the odds facing emergency open heart surgery with valve replacement. Soon after he met the love of his life, the one who will become his right hand in life and he as hers, Carrie Purdy Morrow. He then resumed cycling and skiing.
Kris was predeceased by grandparents, Gerard and Cecilia Barry Koller, Harry and Francis LeBarron Nutting, and Adolf and Vivian Dybas Padowicz, his uncles Jerry Koller, Dennis Koller, William "Bill" Padowicz, and David Nutting. His family dogs Camper, Amber, Dixie, Gracie and his beloved companion, Briana Bear.
He will be truly missed by his love and best friend, Carrie Purdy Morrow, her sons, Nathaniel Austin and Hunter Morrow and pets Shadow and Sasha, his father Kenneth and step-mother Susan Padowicz Nutting, his mother Rosemary Koller Snyder and step-father, David Snyder, his sister, Elizabeth "Beth" Nutting, cousin and great friend, John Liscovitz and his wife Pattie of Kernersville, NC, as well as aunts Mary Koller and Barbara Nutting and many cousins.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, from 5:00 to7:00 p.m. at Armer Funeral Home, Inc., 39 E High Street, Ballston Spa. Private burial will follow this Spring at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Fort Johnson, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Joshua Fund Dog Rescue or The Double H Ranch. Kris would want hundreds of dogs to be rescued from kill shelters, cared for and adopted into their 'furever' homes, and, children with life-threatening illnesses enriched with memorable camp experiences.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Neurology Department and Comfort Care units at Albany Medical Center.
