Mary Cantoni Obituary

Argyle - Mary Cantoni, 87, a former resident of North Adams, Mass., passed away Saturday, Oct. 15, 2005, at Pleasant Valley Health Center, Argyle.

Born in Reading, Pa., on Dec. 12, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Donato and Natolina (Delizandro) DeLuco.

On April 23, 1938, Mary married Michael Cantoni in Reading, Pa.

Mary retired from Spragues Electric, in North Adams, Mass., after more than 30 years of service.

She was a communicant of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in North Adams, and was very active in many church activities.

She has lived at Pleasant Valley Infirmary for 13 years. She was always ready to welcome new residents, which resulted in her being called the "Sunshine Lady of Pleasant Valley Infirmary."

Mary enjoyed playing bingo and watching her favorite soap, "General Hospital." She also enjoyed crocheting, making baby afghans and washcloths.

Her special joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Michael Cantoni, and her sisters, Ann, Rose and Lena.

Survivors include her daughter, Natalie Ives, and her companion, Harry "Bud" Moon, of Queensbury; four granddaughters, Tracy Arredondo of Westbury, Long Island, Renee Ives and her significant other, Dan Breeyear, of Fort Edward, Debra Martin and her husband, John, of Fort Edward, Michelle Tucker and her husband, Floyd, of Lake Luzerne; 11 great-grandchildren, Danny and Anthony Breeyear of Fort Edward, David and Matthew Arredondo of Westbury, Long Island, Jackie, Ashley, Ryan, Brian, and Kevin Martin all of Fort Edward, Devin and Brittany Tucker both of Lake Luzerne; two sisters, Millie Dato of Pennsylvania, Janet Flamm and her husband, Clifford, of Pennsylvania; a special friend, Gina Chase of Fort Edward and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 16, 2005, at M. B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 82 Broadway, Fort Edward.

A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 17, at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at Southview Cemetery, North Adams, Mass.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Pleasant Valley Infirmary Activities Fund, 4573 State Route 50, Argyle, NY 12809.
