Patti Philo
Patti Philo, 79, passed away on August 7, 2025, at Wesley Health Care Center in Saratoga Springs. A devoted wife, mother, Nana, sister, aunt, and friend, Patti will forever be cherished for her kindness, sense of humor, and fierce love for her family. She spent her final days in the place she called home, surrounded by family, friends, loved ones, and the compassionate staff at Wesley.
The daughter of Lucille and Elmer Baldwin, and sister to Sandy, Lynn, Jean, and Bill, Patti was born in Lee, Massachusetts, and spent her childhood in South Glens Falls. She graduated from South High, where, at just fifteen, she met the love of her life, William Philo Jr. The two married in 1969, beginning a partnership that would span 41 years until Bill's passing in 2010. Patti went on to college at SUNY Oswego, earning her degree in Elementary Education, and began her teaching career in Elizabethtown, New York.
Although she loved teaching, her greatest joy was her family. With unwavering support for her husband's career as an air force pilot, Patti guided her family through moves across the country–from Mississippi to Florida, North Dakota, and Texas–eventually landing back in Saratoga Springs. As a stay-at-home mother, she created a warm and magical childhood for her children in every place they called home, complete with homemade Halloween costumes, hand-crafted birthday cakes, and the most joy-filled, extravagant holidays and celebrations.
As her children grew older, Patti returned to teaching at Newmeadow School in Malta, where she adored working with the children and forming close bonds with her colleagues. She retired to care for her beloved husband as his health declined, spending countless hours by his side at the Pines nursing home in Glens Falls. There, she became a beloved presence to both staff and residents, and after Bill's passing, she continued to visit and volunteer, bringing comfort and joy to many.
Patti's devotion to her children and grandchildren never wavered. Whether attending concerts, cheering from the sidelines at sporting events, or hosting sleepovers filled with treats, games, and laughter, she made sure her loved ones always felt her presence and support. She was the listening ear, the wise counselor, and the warm embrace her family could always count on.
Patti was predeceased by her husband, William Philo Jr.; her son, William Carter Philo; her parents, Elmer and Lucille Baldwin; and her brother, William Baldwin. She is survived by her children: Amy (Colin) Anderson and their children Ryann, William, and Emmett; Kari (Eric) Cushing and their children Thomas and Lexi; and Justin (Jen) Philo and children Tillman, Cooper, Bennett, and Dawson. She is also survived by her siblings, Sandy (Nick) Buttino, Lynn (Jer) Hay, and Jean (Ken) Mattison, as well as several brother and sister in-laws, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Saratoga Hospital and the Wesley Health Care Center for the extraordinary care provided to Patti over the last several years.
A service to celebrate Patti's life will be held on August 29, 2025 at 1 p.m. at the Regan and Denny Funeral Home on Saratoga Avenue in South Glens Falls.
