March 12, 1934 - July 18, 2024

QUEENSBURY - Robert "Bob" Lankenau, age 90, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 18, 2024 surrounded by his family. Born on March 12, 1934 in Manhattan, NY, Bob was the son of the late Robert and Eva Lankenau.

Bob grew up in Freeport, NY. Attended college at Hofstra University thru the ROTC Program where he loved playing Lacrosse and met the love of his life, Gail Anderson. After his time in the Army, Bob and Gail were married on November 20, 1960 and had two sons Karl and Craig Lankenau.

Bob was a long-time teacher at Genet School in East Greenbush, NY where he taught 6th grade. After retirement, Bob and Gail moved to Queensbury, NY where they enjoyed living in Waverly Place and being closer to their camp in Speculator, NY.

Despite losing his wife, Gail, in 2010 and facing the challenges of dementia in his later years, Bob remained a source of inspiration to those around him. His strength, resilience and gentle, giving spirit will be missed by all who knew him.

I´m sorry for the loss of such a kind, thoughtful man. Bob was a neighbor in Waverly Place and although I didn´t see him too much, when I did he was so nice and polite. I will make a donation to Hospice in his memory.Sandy Norris
