Great guy spent lots of hours with Roger while he performed his magic doing canvas work on new boats at the marinas where I worked . Never a job he couldn't do. Rest in peace job well done down here.

Dear Lynda, Tim, KC, Randy, and family,
My memories of your beloved Roger go all the way back to the summer of 1970, the Stroms' first summer in Woodfin Park where our yards looked over each other. Roger's ever-present smile and laughter were the expression of his very soul, and the foundation that our relationships, which started as mere neighbors but grew into deep mutual friendships of love and caring, were built upon. Jobs that needed to be done in the park, Roger was an ever-present volunteer, whether dock-building, lawn care, or road maintenance. A legendary card player on your fantastic porch, an avid swimmer, both in daylight and moonlight (so I heard ;)) , a reliable skipper in his sailboat, in general the man of the hour. He was always a part of things, a full participant in all he did, whether his hand held a hammer, a rake, a sewing needle, or your heart.
In the latter years of my own parents' lives, I observed first hand his skills in first aid, not only of the body, but of the soul. He understood humanity, in its joys and sorrows, and gave to others of himself when they were in deepest need. His quiet eloquence in standing with people in their trauma, guiding them to their better safety, will be his greatest gift to me, and I think exemplifies his life. Lynda, please know that you too are a shining example of this sensitivity and deep caring for and ministering to others, and I think it's one of the reasons you and Roger were such a wonderful pair in your lives together.
Roger has finished his shift here on this earth, but now continues in joy and love with our Lord in heaven. While we grieve our loss of his presence here (and I am crying as I type), I think the men (and women) of Woodfin are having a reunion in heaven that is filled with great laughter just as they did for so many years on Memorial Day weekend as we started our summers together.
Sending so much love to you all as I hold sacred space for you in prayer,
Neva D.

Roger, to me, will always be remembered as a Salt o' the earth man, so friendly and cared about all, especially his wife and family. He was a very active and adventurous man, who I loved to hunt with in Schoharie county, memories I'll always have. Thanks for being a great neighbor and friend to my family, may you RIP after a solid run in life. Garth Field
