Roger Taylor Obituary

GRANVILLE, N.Y. Roger C. Taylor, 86, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007, at The Orchard. Born March 10, 1921, on Taylor Hill in South Granville, he was the son of John J. and Clara (Spring) Taylor. He was a graduate of Granville High School, Class of 1937, and was a farmer for 30 years. He served as Granville town historian for six years and wrote a monthly column "Looking Back with Roger Taylor" for the Granville Sentinel. Roger was an active member of the Mettowee Valley Senior Citizens and the Granville Heritage Society. Local history, music and baseball were among his favorite hobbies. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, John J. Taylor Jr. Survivors include several cousins. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, at the Robert M. King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville, with the Rev. James Peterson officiating. Friends may call Saturday from 10 a.m until the time of the service.

I worked with Roger at the school and after he retired he would come and have coffee with me. I always enjoyed his visits. He always appreciated my family remembering him at Christmas.
