Nov. 15, 1936 - Jan. 28, 2021
TICONDEROGA - Sandra Jean Geiser (nee Rafferty), 84, of Ticonderoga, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 28, 2021, at Champlain Valley Physician's Hospital in Plattsburgh, NY.
Born in Ticonderoga on November 15, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Lewis and Elizabeth (Thatcher) Rafferty.
Sandra was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph H. Geiser; her brothers: Glen, William "Bill", Jack and Walt Rafferty; her sisters: Blanche "Bub" Yaw, and Sharon Graves; sister-in-law, Joanne (Tobin) Rafferty; brother-in-law, Kenneth Yaw; step-daughter, Carol (Geiser) Murray; and grandson, Jacob Geiser.
She is survived by her son, Joseph (Lesli) Geiser; her daughter, Candee Geiser (Bill Frazier); sons: Darren Geiser and Damon Geiser; step-daughters: Sharon (Tom) McKeown and Wendy Geiser (Gary Dillon); eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; her sisters: Devere (Jack) Bofinger, and Bonnie (Jim) Bennett; sisters-in-law, Margaret Rafferty, Aileen Rafferty, and Jackie Rafferty; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Sandy was a lifelong resident of Ticonderoga and career business owner. Along with her husband, Harry, they owned and operated The Stone House Restaurant and Motel, The Trout House Motel in Hague, and The Burger Pit. After Harry's death, she went on to open The Top of the Hill Restaurant. At the time of her death, she had been in business sixty-seven years. In her earlier years, she was active in both civic and social organizations.
Sandy enjoyed golfing, road trips with her friends and family which often resulted in great stories to be shared, painting and knitting, as well as her countless interactions with people throughout her many years of business.
She will be missed by her family and friends and affectionately remembered by her great-grandchildren as "Aunt Grandma" a name bestowed her by them. We are sure that in Heaven, she was comforted to be reuniting with all those that passed before her.
As per Sandy's wishes, there will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Spring at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Ticonderoga. A Graveside Service and entombment will follow at the family mausoleum in the Valley View Cemetery of Ticonderoga. The Rev. Christopher Looby, Pastor, will officiate.
