SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY - Stephen J. Zabala (Steve), 103, passed away peacefully after a short illness in his home surrounded by his loving wife Mary of 74 years and family members on September 6, 2025, in Saratoga Springs, NY. Born on March 16, 1922, in Greenfield Ctr, NY.
Relatives and friends are invited to call from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on September 12, 2025 at St. Clements Church, 231 Lake Avenue, Saratoga Springs, NY, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Burial with military honors will follow in the family plot at St. Peter's Cemetery, West Avenue, Saratoga Springs, NY. Online remembrances may be made at www.burkefuneralhome.com.

Your father and mother were God parents of my sister, Barbara max. My sister,mother,and father have past. I am the only one of the old family left. Maryanne, and Zabala family, my prayers are with you and will continue. Though the void of such a loss cannot be filled, the assurance of knowing Mr. Zabala (Steve) is with our Lord and Savior comforts me and I pray it will bring you each comfort too. I had not personally met Mr. Zabala but through all the great stories and wonderful pictures (all saved) that Maryanne would share with me through the years, I felt as if I did. Dear Mary and family, We are so saddened to hear about your dear Steve. St.Clement’s Parish will just never be the same as the two of you had such a strong presence there. I had the pleasure of teaching your dear Veronica many years ago at St. Clement’s School( and if I remember correctly, she shared a birthday, September 8, with our Blessed Mother).Gerard and I were on the Parish Council together.
