William Michael Doody
Jan. 3, 1949 - Oct. 23, 2023
CORINTH – William Michael Doody, 74, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2023 at Wesley Health Care Center after a long illness.
William was born on January 3, 1949 in Glens Falls, to the late William and Frances (Petro) Doody.
He graduated in 1968 from Corinth Central High School after which he enlisted in the Army, where he received training in missile repair and construction at Redstone Arsenal in Alabama. He was then deployed to Crailsheim, Germany, where he finished out his term in the service also serving as a Chaplain's Assistant.
Upon returning home, he continued his education receiving an Associate's degree from Adirondack Community College in Glens Falls, and then served as a Counselor for Manpower.
Following that, he returned to his interest in repairing things and worked several years for RM Dalrymple Company servicing gas station pumps at Stewart's Shops throughout New York.
Expanding upon his interest and aptitude for repairing things, he returned to school in order to become a Biomed Technician, often being called by his nickname, "BioBill". He was then employed by Saratoga Hospital and the Surgery Center associated with Saratoga Hospital for over 20 years until his retirement in 2016.
During his retirement, he found more time to pursue his interest in fixing things and finally built a workshop to house all of the tools, machinery, and materials he had been collecting over the years. Throughout his lifetime, he pursued several hobbies with gusto, such as hiking, kayaking, rock climbing, bicycling, and scuba diving.
A true Corinthian until the end, he was proud to still own the Doody Home on Main Street, which was the first hospital in Corinth, originally purchased by his grandfather when his mother was still a teenager, and then bought by his mother and father after they were married. He always said that he didn't want to move anywhere else, and that this was and would be his home from the day he was born until the day he died. And it was.
William was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother-in-law, Daniel Gately.
He is survived by his sister, Shawna E. Gately of Porter Corners, NY; one uncle, Gordon L. Petro of Melbourne, FL; and several cousins. He also had three very special friends: Dick Maxam of Corinth, Jacqueline Casey of Greenfield Center, and Pamela Appleby of Plymouth in the United Kingdom.
There will be no viewing hours per William's wishes. A private burial and memorial service will be held at the family's convenience. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Corinth.
The family of William wishes to thank the staff at Wesley Health Care Center for the kindness and compassion they showed, not only to William during his stay there, but to his family and friends as well.
The family also suggests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Arrangements are under the direction of The Densmore Funeral Home, Inc., 7 Sherman Ave., Corinth.

Shawna, you don´t know us, but we knew Bill & was very fond of him. He was a great guy who we met @ Paneras. When we stopped going there regularly we kept in touch on messenger. Been trying to contact him several times, wondering why he didn´t respond. We just learned today why. He spoke of you often, and we belatedly offer our condolences.
