William Quinn Obituary

William "Billy, Bill, Quinner" Christopher Quinn

September 15, 1966 - September 5, 2024

QUEENSBURY - William "Billy, Bill, Quinner" Christopher Quinn, aka Mark Carnivore, 57, died Thursday, September 5, 2024, at the Glens Falls Hospital following a brief illness.

Mr. Quinn was born September 15, 1966, in his hometown of Glens Falls, N.Y., the proud, loving, and caring son of the (late) Michael and Kathleen (Fennell) Quinn of 8 Dix Avenue, Glens Falls.

As many of you know, Bill was a consummate musician and artist, with all-around excellent athletic abilities. He could crack a baseball in any direction he chose and had incredible pitching skills. I believe his brother BB would agree, being Billy's "Catcher in the Rye."

As a musician, Bill was phenomenal. He could play any instrument he chose and master it. He was that guy who could hear a song once and play it, or tune an instrument on the first try. His natural musical abilities were above and beyond. He was known primarily for his guitar playing, but oh, man . . . could he play those drums and keyboards too! In his heyday, many people referred to him as "Eddie Van Halen" – not only for his guitar playing, but for his extremely handsome looks with long, wavy, auburn hair.

Bill created many intense, beautiful original songs, playing every instrument and doing all the audio mixing. He was a musical genius. He also took great joy and pride in teaching others to play. I can fully attest that he was a very, very good teacher.

During the late 1980s and early '90s, Bill was employed by the band Mischief as a Sound Engineer. And he was very good at that, too. He was proud of his work with Mischief and cherished his experiences and his bandmates, Shawn, Dan, Joe, Bruce, Todd and (late) George. From 1994 to 2017, Bill was a Lead Machine Operator and trainer at the Post-Star newspaper in the Packaging Department. He was a very funny guy who kept his co-workers laughing through most shifts.

He was known for his altruism in training people. He would see somebody struggling to do the job or learn a task and treat them with total respect and compassion. He gave 110% everyday, especially at busy holiday times. He made more friends than I can count at the Post-Star, often having after-work 5 a.m. parties at his house with the crew. And, oh, my . . . what great fun we all had together. I was not only his wife, but his co-worker for most of his time employed there. You know who you are, and he loved every one of you.

After he left the Post-Star in 2017, I asked him, "Well . . . what are you going to do now?" He replied, "Bake cakes! I never want to smell machine oil and grease again. I prefer the smell of cinnamon, thank you very much." So that's what he did. He was a Bakery Associate at Hannaford in Glens Falls at the time of his death.

Bill's graphic illustration artwork can be seen on his Facebook page, Quinn Visionz.

William was very proud of his Irish heritage, family and lineage. He was second-generation Irish-American, thoroughbred through-and-through. He especially shared a close bond with his beloved mother, Kathleen, who passed away in 1998. Their love was immeasurable.

Besides his parents, Bill was predeceased by his brother, Kevin; in-laws, Joseph and Fay Cormie; stepmother-in-law, Joyce Cormie.

He is survived by his loving wife, Karen (Cormie) Quinn. They spent 41 years together, first meeting one another on August 28, 1983, and marrying in the Glens Falls Hospital ICU on August 28, 2024.

He was the beloved brother and brother-in-law of: Eileen Selbe and (late) Daniel, Finola Donovan and (late) Michael, Michael "Micky" Quinn and (late) Deb and Connie, Johnny and Shari Quinn, Daniel "BB" and Ethel Quinn, Larry and Jane Cormie, Joseph Cormie, Scott Cormie, and Matthew Cormie; godfather to his beautiful, sweet, wild child, Kayla Anne Granados; lifelong close friends with: Thomas Centerbar, Carla (Alecia) Garuccio, and Rodney Boucher, among many loving friends he made on his life's journey; dearly loved uncle to many nieces and nephews; many cousins and close beloved cousin to Terry and Kathleen Quinn.

To you my dear, sweet, intelligent, hot-headed and loving Billy man: Thank you for being my EVERYTHING ALWAYS. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. I will take great care of your best friends, your kitty kids: Liam, Lily and Happy Bappy.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

I had the incredible pleasure of working with Bill for awhile at Medline. He remains one of my absolute favorite coworkers. He was so funny and uplifting. He gave me a couple copies of his artwork, and so many good memories. I'll always cherish these.

I'll share one of my favorite memories. Someone was working on another machine that made a loud clinking noise. He asked me, "what is that terrible noise?" I said, "that's country music" (which was also playing at the time). He erupted into an outrageous, long fit of laughter with tears in his eyes. He said it was the funniest thing he had ever heard. I didn't think what I said was very funny, but his reaction was contagious and just priceless. He was always brightening our days like this.

I'm so sad that he is gone. But I am so happy that I got to meet him. He was a truly remarkable, unforgettable person. May he rest in peace, but live on in our memories.
