William Schultz Obituary

Stillwater William C. Schultz, 88, died peacefully at home on June 5, 2008, with his loving family. Bill was born in Stillwater, N.Y., on May 30, 1920. He was a son of the late Clara and Carl Schultz. Bill graduated from Stillwater High School in 1937 and from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1942 with a degree in chemical engineering. The majority of his career was spent in the papermaking industry where he was well-known and respected. He worked for Westvaco Paper Co. in Mechanicville, N.Y., for many years, and then Finch Paper in Glens Falls, N.Y., until his retirement at age 74. Bill was a member of the Stillwater United Church, the On-da-wa Masonic Lodge in Mechanicville, N.Y., as well as present patron and Past Grand Officer of the Upton Chapter O.E.S. in Stillwater, N.Y. Bill was a quiet and unassuming man who enjoyed life's simpler pleasures. He loved nature and being outdoors, whether fishing, hunting, working in his garden, or just feeding the birds or taking a walk in the woods. He was a lifelong bowler and an active member of a league in Mechanicville, N.Y. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Kathleen; Sister Carol Vandenburgh; Daughters Kathleen (Jack) Lupe and Judith (Randy) Little; Grandson William (Marcia) Overocker Jr.; Granddaughter Caitlin Overocker; Thomas (Marie) Guttridge, Suzanne St. Cyr and Linda Guttridge. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.
