WAYNE HOLCOMB Obituary

Pastor Wayne A. Holcomb, 82, of Cogan Station went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 14, 2025.
Born September 8, 1942, in Coudersport, he was son of the late Harold C. and Nira A. (Ayers) Holcomb. He married Margaret (Crandall) Holcomb on March 14, 1964, in Williamsport. Wayne was a graduate of Coudersport High School.
Together with his wife, Margaret, Pastor Wayne founded The Door Fellowship Church in 1969 during the Jesus Movement. What began as a small Bible study in a Quiggleville basement soon grew into a thriving congregation. In 1980, they purchased the former Rialto Theater, holding their first services there in 1984 and later completing renovations to the main sanctuary.
After nearly five decades of ministry, Wayne retired in 2018, passing leadership to their son and daughter-in-law, Matt and Rachel. Even in retirement, Pastor Wayne continued serving as Apostle, offering guidance to The Door Fellowship and several other congregations, including two overseas.
Over his 45 years of ministry, Pastor Wayne authored numerous teaching manuals, translated into multiple languages, on topics ranging from church leadership to marriage, with Kingdom Principles and The Art of Marriage among his best-known works. His dedication to equipping leaders and strengthening the Body of Christ left a lasting impact on countless lives around the world.
Pastor Wayne was a true people person, deeply devoted to his community and caring for those around him as if they were his own family. An avid hunter and outdoorsman, he found joy in nature, especially when on his tractor. His love for travel took him across the globe and to nearly every state in the country. A connoisseur of classic movies, he enjoyed hand-selecting favorites from his beloved collection of genres and gifting them to others. Above all, Pastor Wayne cherished his family, taking great pride in their events and activities, and treasuring every moment spent together.
Surviving in addition to his wife are their children, Michael Holcomb (Kimberly) of Portland, Ore.; Mark Holcomb (Debbie) of Destin, Fla.; Margie MacIntyre (Rick) of Cogan Station; Matthew Holcomb (Rachel) of Williamsport; 14 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren (and another due in November); a sister, Sally McFarland; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Richard Holcomb, Laura Watrous, and William Holcomb.
A funeral service to honor Pastor Wayne's life will be held 12 p.m., Friday, August 22, at River Valley Church (Former Door Fellowship), 470 Pine St., Williamsport. A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service Friday at church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to River Valley Church, 470 Pine Street, Williamsport PA 17701.
